    Amen.
In today's world, when you find talent and ability you better jump all over it and keep em happy or they're gone to another place that will

This is why it's so important to spread the word on GOOD shops too. Yes we want to protect from the dishonest and the bad but also, where can I go to get work done???
Always spread the good word when you find an honest shop

true, you can also give online reviews good or bad on services you've received like GOOGLE, YELP and many others it helps other consumers make a good choice on who works on their vehicles, houses, etc.

The problem with reviews is each person's perception of what good service is. An oil change with no issues and done in a timely manner would be 5 stars from one person but someone else requires a free paper, free coffee, complimentary massage with a happy ending and 50% off for being who they are! And even then it would only rate as 2 stars because the air temperature was 0.2° too cold and the technician had a burgundy shirt underneath his work shirt! The stuff people complain about these days is ridiculous!!!!

I can usually weed those out. When they start their review with "OMG" or "Unbelievable" it's normally some overzealous twat. The type to give a bad survey on every category bombing each employee when only 1 small aspect of the service went sideways. Ah, surveys and review suck! What happened to the good ol days when you were referred somewhere? Word of mouth.

yes I know just look at the Dumbgeon thread, they complain about that it takes too long for the heater to warm the cab up and think somethings wrong with the trucks heater design, its just part of the entitlement snowflake culture that's taken root in this country, where adults are blaming others for the choices they make for themselves.

You have to wonder what the education requirements are in the states and whether the education you get is actually good. It's standardized up in Canada. You have to pass a course, testing, and a massive final exam to be qualified to work at reputable shops or dealerships.

They'll hire any monkey that just climbed down from the tree and can wear a uniform. Education? Please.

Believe you mean Tree. Mistakes happen. The person learning in the shop made an error. It is up to the shop to properly supervise and the ownership to deal with mistakes. I am sure you have never ever made a mistake while wrenching. I know I have. Even made mistakes on something as simple as spelling

So true can’t count the number of “ I accidentally drained the tranny doing my own oil change” on here.

It might be standardized but people still slip through. I have worked with some people I can't believe passed the interprovincial exam! Trained, Red Seal technicians that can't jump start a vehicle!

Yes, tree! Damn auto correct. I've made mistakes but not something dumb, like removing all the bolt that hold a skidplate and not supporting it with anything! Did he think that it was going to float in the air? No really?

Not sure where photogr4x4 got his info but the people working the lube pit only need a 3rd yr apprentice overseeing them. They are usually 1st yr automotive techs or people would did not get their journeyman ticket but are ok with the basics. Yes here in Canada.

Back in the day I knew people that worked in a quick lube place. None of them had finished high school. The best education might have been 1 year in automotive class in school! There were no certified guys there!
