Select counties around the big Metro areas have testing. When I lived 10 min down the road, They checked my headlights and blinkers and that was that.

Boys and girls. Can confirm that immob chip removal is no fix. The ecu remains powered as if its on ignition, every time you write a tune or pull the unswitched power, ie disconnect the battery, it requires another key resync. Maybe i got a fucked ecu sent over? Idk. I have another en route so we will see. @asgardengineering found some other examples of denso ecus with the chips pulled out doing random shit also. So we are back to square one as far as a long term solution for the AUDM market. I will say tho, @nd4spdbh ’s shift scheduling is on point. I can see why you blokes are having so much fun

I bet you desoldering the immo from your old ecu and putting it on the new one solves everything

Haha yeah that is commitment tho. I dont wanna fuck my oringinal working ecu. I still feel like the obd bridge worked, but there is another drama here. Ima See what i can do/see with techstream in the next 24.
Automotive locksmiths quoted me like $140usd to sort it if the next ecu does a similar thing. I was hoping i could find a way to bridge the board where the eeprom chip was but i Cant get any deets on the specific way it functions other than it confirms the key code and tells the ecu to press play

I wonder if there is a way to remove the Immo functionality completely?

Okay so I'm pretty late to the game here. I tried searching through the thread for my specific question but after an hour of searching I've given up trying to comb through 285 pages. Any help would be greatly appreciated and, of course, sorry if this has already been discussed.

2010 with the Magnuson supercharger and 2.85 pulley.

I'm currently running the Bully Dog tune.

How would I go about upgrading to the HP tuner? Can I just install a new tune over the Bully Dog tune? Do I need to bring my truck into a professional tuner or does HPT provide already created tunes that I can just download and install?

You can use the MPVI2 to do a "virtual read" over the BD tune, and extract a virgin copy of the appropriate TRD Tune for your ECU. You can then write that stock TRD tune file back to the ECU as a "Step 1" towards a better tune.

The next step of that would be to use a tailored tune for your specific setup. That would require you to visit a tuner or some remote tuning assistance.

HPT does not provide any custom tuning services. They only offer the tools to do the job.

Awesome. Any suggestions for finding a tuning shop. When I called around about a year ago, all the shops said they couldn't and or wouldn't tune toyotas. Did you have to find a HP tuner specific shop?

Edit: I'm in Huntington Beach CA by the way.

I do tuning for a number of the folks in this thread. I'd be happy to work with you if you'd like.

Shit bolted onto other shit, and junk.
Don’t let his low key, modest approach fool you. He is exactly what you want, correction NEED. You won’t be disappointed and the real beauty is you could be located on the other side of the planet and he can still take care of you. In addition, @nd4spdbh cam hook you up with pretty nasty tranny tune if you are auto. Both are highly recommended.

Luckily I’m on a manual tranny. But from what I’ve been reading @JustDSM is the man.

Anyone else switch over from Bully Dog that can provide some feedback on switching over to HPT?
