Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

There is an itty bitty chance I am going to take off to Moab this weekend anyway which would be a perfect opportunity to give it a shot.

 

I just drove about 25 miles back home on the 2.0 Beta. I’m still waiting for the truck to learn the new tune before I give my opinion. Did anybody notice a change to the tune after driving it for a while?

 

yes, there is a LOT of change in the first tankful of gas. 25 miles isn't anywhere close to enough miles to make a proper judgement

yep, exactly why I’m going to wait before I post anything on here about my opinion on the tune. Nothing negative to say so far. I just want to wait until my tune has acclimated to my truck.

 

I posted recently about how my truck was revving on it's own after putting it in Reverse or Drive and so I recorded it yesterday. Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this? The revs stabilize as soon as I put it back in Park. This is starting to get frustrating though and I'd like to get to the root cause.

Do you have any mods on your ECU, engine, or trans?

 

I'm running the 87 performance 1.05 tune. I have the TRD intake and exhaust, but both have been on the truck since I bought it in 2018. I haven't made any engine or performance modifications other than the tune. I've had the tune since April 2019 and I've reflashed a few times since then.

 

Does it only happening when the engines cold started like in the video? Or at normal operating temps too?

 

Apologies, I just checked and I've got 04B02, turns out I just have the 04B23 files on my computer for some reason. Any plans on a beta for that?

Only when it's cold started. I always let it warm up for 30 seconds or more before taking it out of Park though.

 

You should update to 04b04 and you can run the beta today

 

When was the last time you flashed?
We had this issue on 1.05 files that were initially released in December 2018~January 2019, it was fixed and updated a few days later. Is it possible it's one of those very old files?

 

I would do a process of elimination. flash it back to stock and see how it works. If it’s good, then go back to flash manager and “update”. Then load 1.05 and see how that runs. If good, then you might have had one of those older files that Mat replaced due to issues.
