So i started tearing into the project over the Christmas New Year Holiday. I installed the OME front lift (waiting for add a leaf for back) front bumper and rails. I hope to have the rear bumper tomorrow and will tackle that this weekend. I was going to do the air locker but i have never worked on a a IFS diff and i am not up for that challenge. I will install the compressor, plumbing and interior portion.

The OME install was not bad. A couple hang ups. Since i am putting all this weight on i had to preload the struct to 20mm. Factory is 5mm. It was a PIA to cage the spring! In retrospect i should have taken it to a shop. Second was UCA install. At the factory toyota installs the bolt from the opposite direction when the cab is off. There is no way to remove the bolt without bending/cutting/scratching wheel well. It needs to be cut. I didn't know that and did not have the bolts on hand. Closest place was 1.5 hours away. My fault. Should have done more research.

I am very happy with all products purchased and installed thus far.

I am thinking of anodizing or powder coating the aluminum skid plate on the side rail black. Let me know what you think.

Looks great! I have similar plans for my 2020 I have on order. I look forward to seeing this progress. I'm really interested in the look of the alu cab.

I have the rear suspension finished and have installed the rear bumper too. Need to do final fitting on rear and front bumpers. She is standing tall waiting for some weight.

Working on the electrical modifications next.

Hope to have the canopy camper in mid February. I will you posted.

 

I just noticed you added the pro grille. I have a pro coming. You might be able to answer my biggest question about the arb bumper. How does it work with the TSS? Have you had any issues with it blocking the sensor? It seems its mounted right above the bumper but still kinda close.

 

I haven't driven it in traffic since the bumper install. No warning come up on the dash and the sensor is not obstructed. It may be a different story once i install lights.

As for rear. The BSM will not work. Park assist does.

 

ARB Recovery Point Installed

I have installed the ARB Recovery point and am impressed with its construction and how it is integrated into the truck. It is worth the money. The entire kit weighs 20 lb and the recovery point itself weighs 17 lb.

There was some minor grinding needed on the "y" bracket which is part of ARB summit bumper. other than that is was pretty easy.

 

I have completed my build. For now anyways.

I decided not to go with the dual battery with solar. Instead i am using a Jackery 1000 with two 100watt solar panels. I figure my jackery can be charging while moving and can solar charge with flexibility not having to leave the truck in full sun. I have selector where i can take power from the truck battery or isolate the truck and input the jackery for camper power. Mine is a spartan setup in camper. Here are my details. I will post some pics too.

Have you tried switching out the halogen Fogs on your ARB bumper to Led pods? Or something similar? I really wanna pull the trigger, but I hate the halogen look.

 

No. I am not a fan either. I haven't looked for other options. If you find something please let me know.
