I GOT OUT! Not Stuck any in tillamook OHV area. Need advice and or help getting my truck pulled out.

That’s a fun area but lots of spots to get stuck! Glad to see you got help.

That’s a pretty simple recovery if you’re with someone else. If you like to get out on your own mostly consider a winch in a hitch mounted cradle, add a front hitch and run quick 12v disconnects to both ends of the truck. Being able to winch from either end will get you out of just about anything as long as you have enough rope and an anchor.

 

Swede Saw . Sorry. A bow saw but looking at how stuck he was a saw was not the tool he needed. A good friend with a winch would of been way better than a saw and axe

 

From the picture, if you had a tow strap, the deputy wouldn't hook up and try to pull you out?

 

I’ve seen this before, they often are not allowed to unless it’s blocking traffic or emergency vehicles.

 

Yeah, like everything else in this world, it's probably a question of liability. Don't volunteer anything cause you might get sued.

 

I worked for an Oil and Gas company. We had pretty well equiped truck. Winches and such. We were only allowed to use it for "Company Use". P pull lots of people out because I thought "Company Use" was also giving the company a good reputation. If I could not extract safely I would make sure all occupants were safe and that help was on the way. I had to explain my rational a few times to upper management. They quit bothering me when I asked for a letter from them that I could hand out with their name and # on it and their reasoning. We were all train in recovery procedures.

 

I volunteered with the Forest Service OHV and they were very strict about no winch or help extracting, huge liabilities and it seems everybody who gets hurt in the forest sues the USFS

 

Good on you man. Far too often nowadays, and I lump myself in as well, we fear the consequences of TAKING action to help because of legal repercussions. It's sad and it sucks, our litigious society.

 

I fully believe. We are here to help and nothing else. My ego really doesn't want it to be true but I believe it is.

If we are not willing to help no one survives. Our societies were always the strongest when we were servant leaders. Everyone is a leader. Everyone is a helper. Everyone counts and I am responsible to that.

@Danno 1948 Indeed. The Taco is headed into the shop Monday. Lots of body work and also need to get the mechanical scoped out.

Major learning experience! Sometimes something bad has to happen to make progress.
