Nobody's gonna hold your hand as a business owner and tell you that if you pay your employees garbage and treat them like dirt, you'll have a hard time keeping employees.

We are union also, a very highly technical environment. Top pay, everytime I would see him, he was texting on his phone. Got on his case about how much he was on it, he literally told me that he has to answer this message and then I will do it. College educated, 4 yr degree employee also.

I have 16 other employees who are of a different generation. They are all a real blessing to have. They know what their job is and just do it.

Got 2 employees in backgrounds right now, one is a veteran the other is an adult who knows her shit.

It is getting harder and harder to find good talent that wants to do real work.

Different world today.

 

jup same here, the one I had showed up in his truck and did not get out of it all night to do his job instead was playing shit on his Iphone, as long as mommy keeps them in the basement and they get free Healthcare till 26 years old they aint going to work either.

Hi All,
Received an email from Legacy today, I only responded with "Let me get back to you." I have had a very long day and could not get my head wrapped around the email. I will say the truck is driving fine, but there is still a smell.

My first question with the response is "Why did they add 2.5 quarts, why not drain all of the oil out and replace it?" Also, I was charged for 7 quarts, the engine holds 5?

Anyway, below is the response from Legacy Toyota, let me know your thoughts!!!

After reviewing your communication with Toyota Motor Sales, I understand that you wish to take your vehicle to another Toyota Dealership for future repairs. That is completely within your decision making, however I do want to do everything possible to establish a confidence back into your vehicle and our dealership. I realize you have been given a lot of opinions regarding this situation and with that I would like to eliminate all of the variables and only deal in facts.
1. The vehicle was short 2.5 quarts of oil out of a 5 quart system.
2. The vehicle oil filter housing gasket failed causing the oil loss
3. Legacy Toyota replaced the oil filter housing gasket, drained out the remaining oil from the oil pan and replaced the engine oil to the proper level
4. Legacy Toyota electronically extracted Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's) from the vehicle's computer processor - codes existed showing that the vehicle oil pressure was effected by the oil
Loss and went into a "Limp" mode to protect itself from engine failure
5. After clearing the DTC's a Toyota Master Certified Technician performed an engine performance evaluation testing for any abnormalities ( none were found )
6. You and myself ( Service Director, David Sparks ) had a conversation stating that we would recheck your vehicle in 1000 miles for any concerns including another engine performance evaluation.

I understand your concern regarding potential future failure, and based on the condition of the engine and vehicle, there is no reason you could not pull a boat cross country as you described to Toyota Motor Sales. As far as Toyota warranty is concerned, your vehicle is fully covered by powertrain engine warranty from the Manufacturer for 60 months and 60,000 miles regardless of dealership which you service at. On top of that Legacy Toyota provides a complimentary 7 yr 250K mile warranty on all New Toyotas that we sell which covers major engine failures.

I believe it is a fair statement that if the vehicle's engine life was effected, it would absolutely be displayed within 250,000 miles.

My intent is to be a part of solving your concerns with this situation, so as you described in your correspondence of win-win, what is your definition of a "win" for you.

I look forward to your response so we can equitably solve this concern.

OP you have a lot of pondering to do about what you’re going to accept. It’s interesting that only half the oil was gone. Me personally, I would go to the mat for a new engine but then again I’m very damn particular. I also think before you decide you should have an oil sample analyzed as some have recommended, so you have at least SOME empirical data to rely on. I wish you could have saved some of the oil they drained out.

I think you got a deal on being charged for 7 quarts since technically speaking they gave you a total of 10

EDIT: Also, find out if there are any catches for their 250K warranty such as having to do specific preventive maintenance at their dealership, at certain intervals. Just get the fine print. And is it only good at that dealership?

 

I'm just gonna be blunt, not towards you but for the sake of nothing getting lost in translation.
The letter they gave you sounds super nice and sweet. That guy that wrote you the email is payed very good money to write letters like this and keep the customers thinking that he and his dealer/service dept are on YOUR side. I assure you they are not. I don't know enough about consumer protection crap and all that stuff. If I was in your shoes my biggest concern OBVIOUSLY would be long term consequences on the engine due to what the dealer service dept did. Mistakes happen, but that falls beyond a simple mistake in it book.
If they ask you further what they can do to make this right, tell them you want to be reimbursed for sending oil samples in to be analyzed every thousand miles or something. The analysis will have any of the wear metals measured and you will have actual data that your engine is fine. Not some BS promise from some uppity suit and tie BSer liar whatever that your engine is fine

 

If it was only 2.5qt short, I doubt that your engine suffered irreversible damage, if any at all. I'd still ask for a 10year/100,000k mile warranty that will cover you at any Toyota dealer, not just Legacy. I think it'll be fair for all parties, IMO.
