Is that just front, or is it 1" all around?

It really comes down to what do you want to do with your truck. No lift or a spacer lift will work for your daily driver and some very basic offroading.

Then there are those that want to truly drive offroad and wheel in some extreme situations. This takes building up any vehicle you choose and spending a hell of alot of money.

I have wheeled with a stock suspension, FOX 3" and now Kings with everything to make the truck a very capable offroad vehicle.

Used to build Jeeps, everything from high HP V8 CJs to Long Travel XJs. The Tocama is a great truck just as it comes off the assembly line, but can be built up to be an even better truck.

You will never get your money back, but it's a hell of alot of fun to build, wheel, destroy the truck and do it all again.

In the end I say; Lift it, and wheel it". Here are just a few of my vehicles I have lifted. Why? Because I wanted too. Enjoy.

If you do a decent suspension lift you can’t hate it as the truck drives better. If you do a crap ass job it doesn’t.

I did that lift and won't look back. big improvement in my mind. LB's need a lift and big tires to balance out.

Anyone regret the lift due to visibility? I'm tall and already have a hard time seeing traffic lights if I'm first in line. I feel like a lift would make it worse.

Wouldnt a lift help by reducing the visual angle of the traffic lights?

Hmm think larger scale, if you are sitting at a light and your truck was 3 feet taller, wouldnt it make looking up at a light much easier?

You are right. Doing a ~2inch lift would probably help....a little

It really depends on how OCD you are about your truck. Fact is lifting a truck WILL make it ride different and handle different. Plus it WILL drop your gas mileage alot i most cases. I have lifted prolly a dozen trucks tacos are the hardest in terms of fighting vibrations and up keep. 90 percent chance you will need a ecgs needle bearing when you lift as well. Which requires some mechanical ability to change. Google it if you dont know what im talki g about. About 9 million threads on it. With that said some people dont mind there truck riding like a road wagon. I didnt for years. But now that im older and have kids and drive alot i dont ever see myself getting another 6inch lift and maybe never another 3inch lift. If i was to do anything i would prolly just get some coilovers and raise my front a inch or so and the back a inch for my 18 tacoma. I can fit 33s doing that with a little trimming. Good luck with your choice but know up front it will change things and its not as if you can lift and be done. It takes extra maintenance if you wanna do it right.

Rarely go off-road, but looks matter to me. I like my vehicles to look good, even if the lift isn't for function! No regrets!

IMO, do it right and throw a TRD pro suspension on it. Gives the truck a much better look/stance while still being practical for daily driving. You also won't ruin your resale value and can fit the next tire size up with no issues.

If I remember correctly, I think you can find the '15 TRD pro suspension for quite a bit less than the 3rd gen's and it will accomplish the same thing.

I was in the same boat. Don’t do off roading but like the look of the lifted truck more than stock. I did the bilstein lift in the front set at top notch on stock coils and a block on the aal in the back front gave me about 2” lift in the front 1” in the back. Also installed a diff drop spacer. Then i put on the 285/70/17 with +5 offset wheels and i rub very slightly at some angles on the mud flap. As for gas mileage I knew what I was getting into buying a truck so it doesn’t worry me too much. (Removed bottom front lip for more tire clearance) super easy it was like 6 screws.

It was super stiff. Looked cool and was inexpensive but the ride was terrible.

Thanks. I plan on getting a tacoma soon, but can't decide whether to keep it stock or lift it. I like the look of the lifted truck and bigger tires, but yet don't want headache down the road. Seems like truck need quite of bit of maintenance after lifting it.

It’s not bad honestly, if you plan on off-roading a spacer lift isn’t a good idea. But if you’re just commuting and using it as a daily driver a spacer lift is fine, just a little rough of a drive.

As far as maintenance there really isn’t any. Just need to keep an eye on things and make sure everything stays torqued. Maybe after 40k or 50k miles you need to get your shocks rebuilt, but there isn’t much to it.
