Just got sliders back from the sandblaster and I'm looking for something that will hold up to the winter weather. Trying to find a place that sells steel-it near me (Akron,Ohio) but haven't been successful. Was just wondering if there are brands that you prefer.

Mine are powder coated but I wish I sprayed them with bed liner on top of powder coat . Not even a year and I have some small chips and surface rust .

I think I want to stay away from a bed liner type as well. Once you scratch that off and salt gets under it's game over.

Rustoleum in a proper primer then paint (and not the 2-in-1) has always been good to me. Three coats of primer then about half a dozen coats of paint. 3M grip tape on the top side to prevent wear from people using them as a step and you can just sand and use the 2-in-1 as needed for touch-up on the bottom - just stick some cardboard on top of them to protect the truck.

The bedliner texture looks great but it has the same downfalls as powder minus the chipping from road debris. That's one area where a line-x or similar is superior to any other option but it doesn't handle sliding very well over time... it tends to come off in chunks and it doesn't reapply easily.

Do the sliders get used as sliders? If so, simple flat black spray paint or powder coat will work great. If not, bedliner will work great if longevity is more important. Some bedliners can actually be too abrasive, flaky, and grippy for the purpose of sliding on, if that makes sense. Easy to touch up though.

Mine are rusting pretty bad again. I’m going to buy some Enrust. I’ve tried everything else. I work on ships and once it converts the rust it’s on there for life! The only thing is it’s $75.00 per gallon but you get what you pay for.

Use one of their other products as the base and/or finish coat. If you want a bit of texture (but no rubber chip stuff) use one of their bed liner products as a top coat.

If a slider is used as intended, you'll be recoating from time to time. May as well use the product that you're most comfortable with. I love Raptor Liner and either pull the sliders off and recoat with a spray gun or touch up on the truck with a foam roller.
