Installing seats - Impact wrench or socket?

I _finally_ got those buckets I've been fiending for ($225 from LKQ), and now I'm looking at actually installing them. It never occured to me until the other day when I was talking to my father -- When I pull the bench out and put the buckets in, will I need to tighten the bolts with something more than a regular socket wrench, like say an impact gun? If it was just me, I wouldn't really care all that much, but since my fiancee will be in there too...

I'll definitely take pictures and put them up if anyone's interested, as well as detail what exactly the process entails (there's not much in the way of photos - I've looked. :C )

depends how strong you are. and how hard they were to get out. If you can get them out by hand, you can put em back in by hand. some places its just awkward for an impact wrench to be. like mine is full of grease and therefore would never make it in my cab.

 

A good snug with a 1/2" drive socket should be more than enough.

 

Don't use and impact gun and Impact is designed to break bolts lose not tighten bolts use Torque wrench and find the Torque specs for the seat bolts.

 

x2 its cool to take them out with an impact but never put them back in with one

 

If I recall correctly, the torque for the seat bolts is less than 30 pounds-feet. I re-tightened them chasing down a creak, the torque value came from the FSM pages on nttora.

 

Any clue where I would find that information?

my truck is so awesome. if it was my truck id just tell it wat to do and it would do it. ie. - fucken seat bolts u better tighten up now! ... then the bolts would be tight. n if they dont listen, ima slap them bolts like Jerrys boss' daughter who wanted me to hammer a 6in spike through a 2x4 with my penis.

kiddie game is down the street home boy. if u r not confident in tightening down ur seats, dont even put'em in.

It has nothing to do with confidence. It's called "I don't work on cars/trucks for a living" and I want to do the job right. Because shoddy work means that my beautiful fiancee and I could be horribly disfigured. And I'm too pretty for that to happen.

try this.... snug the bolts down. then tighten another 90deg. should be cherry!

 

I'd use a socket myself. I'd hate to strip one of those or break it off with the impact

 

I have a question.

Bench seat = 4 bolt holes. Buckets seat = 4 bolt holes x 2.

Do the regular cabs (bench seat) have all the correct holes in order to bolt in buckets?
