It's good, but not great. The story and history behind the bottle drives up it's MSRP, so, from a pure drinking standpoint, it is a bit overpriced. Lots of vanilla, caramel, and nuts (think cashews) on the palate. Finish isn't as sweet and maybe a tad short for the age.

Fun bottle to have, talk about, and share with friends, but not anything I'd get another of.

I got the rest of the empty Booker's boxes out, too. Full disclosure: A handful are boxes from bottles that I didn't drink (buddy gave me some of his boxes) and the Booker's Rye box I got from a guy, but I haven't had it (my bottle is thus far unopened). The majority of them are from past bottles, though. I wish I would have cataloged the batches for each box a little better.

That's a lot of Booker's boxes! I use a few Booker's boxes and cigar tins as risers for the back row of bottles on my bourbon shelf.

I'm in desperate need of ideas for a project. I'm considering building a cabinet that will be strictly to hold Booker's, then disassembling the boxes and skinning the outside of the cabinet with the panels. I need to do some measuring to see just how much surface area I have to work with and how much more Booker's I need to drink ;).

This is a great idea. I don't really have a dedicated bar in that room, unfortunately. Maybe I'll hold on to some in case we move in to a place that could utilize this sort of decor, though. I like it!

No kidding. My big belly and inability to climb stairs without wheezing is supposed to be motivation enough, but I think randomly getting a bottle of bourbon might be the kick in the pants I need.

Very cool. It's a great community when you mix it up with the right people!

I stopped by TW the other day and was talking to the guy at the customer service counter, asking what they had back there (they keep allocated stuff there). He said they got a bunch of allocated stuff in a few days before, including some Weller 12. A guy came in and saw it, bought a bottle of each (limit 1 per customer), then got on his cell and called his girlfriend and others, asking them to come to the store and buy bottles for him. Everything was gone in 30 minutes.

What do you think of this? I think it was greedy and a douchy move.

I found the same thing last weekend. I have been checking the TW online stock and noticed that one near me had a couple things I've been seaching for - EH Taylor being one of them, but the bottles were not on the shelf. As I walked out, I noticed 4 bottles behind the customer service counter. I'm pretty sure this is why I've never been able to find Eagle Rare or Weller 12. I'm pretty annoyed with TW for allowing this.

There's a only a few bottles I'd consider doing this with and it'd only be for one additional bottle via my girlfriend. And she likes whiskey too so I wouldn't feel bad about it. I wouldn't even consider buying all the allocated bottles in this manner.

I recently saw a post somewhere else about a similar situation. Someone was bragging about buying a bottle, every family member of his bought a bottle, made up roommates buying bottles, etc. Something I certainly wouldn't brag about.

There's limits on things for a reason. My thought is share the whiskey so more people can enjoy the majority of the stuff.

the manager of one of the bigger stores here told me he watches the FB groups so he can hide allocations when these greedy clowns come rushing. he told me he watches those groups strictly to protect his customer base. pretty funny.
