spare 12.jpg spare 1.jpg spare.jpg I traded a 2018 Tacoma Limited 2x4 for a 2020 Limited 2x4. The spare on my 2018 was an alloy rim with the same Michelin Tires as the rest of the truck. P265/60R18

Well...I lowered the spare on my 2020 Limited to put on (get this) the spare tire lock.

The rim I lowered was a black STEEL 16" rim with a Hankook Tire P245/75R16

I know it is my fault that I did not look at the spare closely; but seriously who lowers the spare when purchasing a new vehicle?!
I still would have thought that trading a limited for a limited would at least have the same size rim as the rest.

I complained to my dealership and before we (dealership and I) looked at the doorjamb sticker; the dealership offered to purchase a replacement 18" rim. I ordered and was reimbursed over $450.00 for a black alloy 18" spare rim from Toyota.

The doorjamb sticker showed the same P245/75R16 as the correct spare.

    FYI

While I would also expect to get the same size spare, it would work on a temporary basis. Not agreeing or disagreeing with the factory decision.

My 2016 TRD OR came with a black steel spare. Same tire size and brand as the other tires.

I was surprised to find a black steel rim for the spare under my truck when I had to change a flat at 1600 miles. Not a deal-breaker for me but slightly annoying. Guess I need to pick up a set of 6 method racing wheels and fix that.

I bought a matching alloy rim from ebay and had the tire switched over. Sold the steel rim to somebody on this site. Steel spares rust too quickly in this environment.

I'm surprised the Limited doesn't come with run flat tires, no spare, and an air pump.

Doubt if the new Supra has a spare tire.

My 2018 came with part number: 42611-04190 wheel, spare

I just expected the same as I had before with the same model but more money.

Did your 2018 have power seat? Car play? Whatever else little odds and ends they added?

I am shocked you got an alloy on your 2018 as a spare. Did you buy it brand new? I thought all Tacomas came with a steel spare.

I mean that's less than 2/32" in diameter. Even assuming the 18's are going to flex less than a 16", you probably have more of a difference in rolling diameter than that between any front and rear tire due to weight and pressure differences.

That definitely makes it easy to include the spare in tire rotation
