Yes, that looks right. It's also normal that the front end had less shavings. You shouldn't need to change the diff oil for another 15k miles.

Mine had a bit less and looked finer. But hard to compare to a photo. Frankly I don't see anything to worry about.

my front end actually seemed to have a bit more shavings. I double checked the used oil last night to see if I missed anything. It’s black with no metal chunks at all in it.

When you say “shavings” do you mean curly cues of metal or a fine paste?

The front actually had more ultra fine metal paste. the rear had more ultra fine shavings. No curly's or anything larger than very fine pieces, but mostly fine paste.

You going to put in some top shelf synthetic now and forget about it? Or run another shorter break in cycle with cheap oil?

I ran non syn Lucas 85-140w during break in. Put the same stuff back in front and rear. Gonna stick with it for now since that's what ECGS reccommends. I was thinking of checking at my next oil change, atleast maybe drain a bit and see how it looks. I'll probably switch to a lighter oil up front then.

Yea that's amazing, looks nothing like mine at all. Hopefully not a bad sign for my gears. I did everything i could to properly break them in. I hope they last a long time.

how much does that rpod weigh? mine weighs in at just over 3k and has a maximum of about 3700lbs. its the larger 182g model. but fully loaded down that's only about 58% of the tacoma's advertised towing capacity of 6400lbs. is yours a 4cyl?

I usually don't load much in my truck when i go camping with the Rpod. I'm curious how it's gonna pull with my new gears.

Solved the problem. I lost a lot of brake fluid during the course of the rear third install. I only had one bottle on hand to re-bleed and the reservoir fluid level was sitting just below the min line. I topped it off, and had a buddy clear the codes. All warning lights are gone for good.

I got my ECGS third and clamshell installed. Each axle took me about a day for removal + full install. Gears have been in for about a week and I have an un-resolved issue. My truck is bogging down under acceleration. It feels the like the brakes are dragging, or I'm towing a trailer. It's the strangest thing. Everything is silent, there's no weird noises, it's just feels like there is friction or drag somewhere in the drivetrain. I figured if something was really wrong, it would have exploded by now as I have 150 miles since doing the install. The bog/drag feeling is the same regardless of being in 2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive high. I initially thought the rear brakes were dragging. I put the truck in the air and I can spin all 4 wheels relatively easily by hand. The brakes drag a little bit, but it seems normal. Tonight I tested the truck in 4-low and that's where the drag/friction is very noticeable. I had to really push down on the accelerator to get the truck to move. The best way to describe it is that it feels like the brakes are on and I am pushing hard on the accelerator to overcome drag/friction. This leads to believe that the problem might be coming from the front end?

-Everything on the front end spins pretty easy when the truck is on jack stands
-I checked diff fluid to make sure I'm not overfilled (even thought that's not really possible to do)
-I had a hard time with the breather hoses when I installed the clamshell. I am going to check the connection tomorrow. Maybe it disconnected?
-Can the truck go into any type of "limp" mode from disconnecting things?

I can tell that these gears are going to be awesome. The new shift points are great and I was able to stay in 6th on the highway with 285s and a very non-aero vagabond drifter camper on the truck. It's really hard to diagnose an issue over the internet. If anyone has any thoughts, let me know. I will also reach out to ECGS on Monday.

That’s a tough one schudes. Double check all components involved with your front end alignment maybe something got thrown out of whack? Front cv’s get seated in all the way properly? I’m just throwing out ideas but that’s an odd one. I know u can really feel the drag/engine breaking aspect if these gears. I’ve really noticed it myself, but sounds like your experiencing something much more than that.
