Dog hair, lost happy meal parts from Grandkids....
I have a cat back system (cheapy China one from Amazon) and that has a drone. Sounds like a sick rice burner. Some motors are hard to get the sound you want.....

And freeing up the system with no muffler, you might have to check Oxy sensors , such a reduced back pressure might give a different reading to the puter' thingy....

It's no V-8 and will never sound like a V8, it'll just be a loud droning wheezy truck that sounds like you can't afford a new exhaust system. V6's NEVER sound cool no matter what you do to the exhaust system. A decent muffler can change the pitch and drop it lower in tone which can sound a bit better then stock but that is about the best you can do.

Sometimes these opinions on TW make me scratch my head and wonder "wtf is that guy on?" I'm positive my opinions do the same thing for others sometimes, lol.

My boss mentioned glass packs. I looked it up. What are y’all opinions on those?

Muffler deletes on these trucks don't sound good. I recommend either the trd catback or find an aftermarket muffler to weld in after cutting off the stock one. There should be a thread somewhere about recommendations. Maybe try googling "2nd gen tacoma aftermarket mufflers." That thread should give you some ideas

I have a muffler delete and i like it, its as loud as any muffler you put on these trucks will make it. Not over obnoxious or droney in my opinion, my tires are louder. I regret nothing. While wheeling I have never had anyone say anything bad about it, its loud at high rpms's but not obnoxious.....but i also have a dual straight piped V8 Lexus and that is 5 times louder while our trucks dont crackle much at all.

    Dude, it's a Tacoma, not a four-bangin' Civic.

I would love a civic though. I honestly dig riced out vehicles.

Why do you think they sound bad? I’ve never heard a “straight piped” Tacoma in person

Sounds like you should trade your truck in for a Civic or other rice-powered vehicle.
