I have this same unit. I haven’t installed yet because I saw a shitty dash microphone. Can you use the mic that in the headliner of the truck? Also, do you actually have to get a SIM card, or just using your phone enough?

You dont need a sim, i generally tether to my phone but indo have 10gb of data. If you dont use sim, you dont need to install the sim card holder or the 4g atenna

Since the unit will always connect to home wifi when i park in my garage, it automatically updates things such as weather when i get home. Also since it automatically connects to my home wifi, i usually dont start the carplay until im out of ramge of home wifi

yes, just pops off. The inverter sits behind the vents, but room above, and tons if you don’t have the inverter.

I have the Joying. It was an easy PnP install and both Android Auto and Apple Carplay work fine. Both wireless. The Joying unit was $299 from Amazon. I have only two minor issues with it: 1. The ring tone is kind of obnoxious and apparently cannot be changed; 2. You lose the compass in the dash display. Not a big deal if you are using Google or Apple maps. Joying was very responsive to emails.
