Now that makes sense. What options exist other than a snorkel? I have to trim or remove my inner fenders pretty soon and would prefer to avoid the snorkel but also don't want to have to haul around a bed full of replacement air filters.

Maybe some kind of filter or sock type thing over the part of the airbox that protrudes into the fender.

I ran a K&N before my snorkel, but got had to clean my MAF sensor every 3k miles too because my mpgs would dip below 14. At least you can wash it in a bucket at camp and put it out to dry.

I saw a company out there making replacement fender liners, if you cover the gap back up I don’t see an issue keeping the stock intake location.

TAV does some custom liners in their builds as well out of some type of UMHW or something that can be molded. Personally even with a snorkel I would want some type of fender liner.

I haven’t seen this before, pretty cool idea!

seems like you would want some kind of prefilter with the intake tube facing up

https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/fend-x-wheel-liners.557515/ I was thinking about trying these before I cut my metal. But I got in time crunch and didn’t mess around cutting it out like a jack-o-lantern to leave any tabs to attach to.

That wouldn't work for the dust...I get plenty along the hood of my truck out east. It definitely needs to sit high up, hence the pro snorkel is above the roof.

In a theoretical world, is there any reason against plumbing the intake into the cab? As long as you're not hotboxing in there and you shower once a week, it should be the cleanest air your engine could get. I wonder what the noise would be like.

I've never had any trouble with it. Supposedly the Tranzilla is is built-up to handle 1000 HP (or was that FT/Lbs?) In any case, way more than I'll put into it.

Jesus H Christ. What kind of fucking redneck, home depot gift card, jackassery is that. If he said "uuuh" one more time I was gonna travel back in time and through my screen to kick him in his sister/cousin fuckin nads. In all seriousness I don't think (in fact I'd bet a good amount) you'd get enough airflow running from the cab. All those junctions that dude is running depletes velocity a good bit. I'm sure he fucked his shit pretty quickly...again

I can't imagine the throttle lag on that thing either.

Well it is a hemi, so even off throttle it probably has more power than a Tacoma :-/
