None currently, but I would like a better sounding exhaust and perhaps a cold air pack and some color coded step bars
Probably will need new tires, at my next inspection(here in MA. we have it done once a year).

I have been thinking about a upgrade in tires and wheels......street driving only, no off road .......does anyone have a opinion on the major tire replacement places , like Tire Rack and the ones advertised in Road and Track and C/D and other mags? Thanks

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
I bought my DuraTracks on Tire rack with wheels and I would do it again the shipping was a little high 94.00 but the tires alone were $55-$60 cheaper each then any tire shop in my area. i don't know about the wheels I couldn't fine the ones i wanted at any shop. I do know saving the 240 on the tires helped pay for my rims and the mounting and balancing was free something that's not offered at some shops.

One of our members had a great set of wheel's on his red Taco down in Fla. At that time I asked him about them and he said that his dealer got them. I think his tires were a bit more aggressive than I would want but I am trying to find that picture with no luck yet. Still looking.

I am just starting to look around at tires, from what my local taco buddy's Toyo and Hancook are very good tires, with good wear. I would probably stick to the original size or maybe 17".......not really sure. I would like a tire with a bit more grip if possible....which I equate with costing more, as compared to my standard Dunlops.

I'm hoping to get new wheels by the end of this month. I'm leaning toward Discount Tire. I usually can talk them down a little (waive part or all of installation fee) and they are having some sales this month. I believe they have a $75-100 rebate if you use their credit card. I'm anti-credit card so I may do it, pay it off immediately to get rebate, and close the card.

This is one of TW's members...Husker_in_KC.

These wheels are very reasonable at Discount...around $90/each, plus you can get the rebate bringing the wheel price to under $300. You'd still have tire price and installation but it's a good start.

Thanks aggie97 for the picture, that is the spitting image of my truck minus the wheels.
Those are not the wheels I saw but they are attractive... I will put Discount tire down on my list.
I have lots of time to find just the right wheel and tire combo, during the winter as I won't be getting new wheels until summer of 2011...
I don't know if you have a Town Fair Tire store near you but they are in New England for sure and I have a friend who just bought a new set for his R/T Charger and has dealt with them for 20yrs and they have terrific policy's and will bargain. So thats on my list also.

No problem on the picture. It's one of the reasons I love this site...to see what wheels, tires, etc. look like on the actual trucks, instead of a stand-alone stock photo. Those wheels are a good example. I would not have ever picked those based on the stock photo Discount has, but seeing them on an actual Tacoma has me considering them.

We do not have Town Fair Tire around here. The major ones around here are Discount, NTB, Sears, and then many smaller shops of course. I've always had good experiences with Discount...they do a very good job training their employees on customer service. NTB is a different story. I could not even get someone to give me a quote on wheels until I complained and a District Manager called me back. He could not believe that in 3 phone calls, nobody could give me a quote, or they would say they'd call back and never would.

Jeff, I am in the same position as you right now and am trying to put off buying tires for a little longer so I can purchase the tires, wheels and lift I would like (3" lift and 285 tires). I am located in Medway and will only deal with Long Distance Tire in Medway for tire service. I have dealt with Town Fair Tire many times due to cheap prices and price matching capabilities, but have also had to deal with multiple trips back to try and get proper alignments.

Yes , we have NTB, in our area, they are so-so , although I have only dealt with them once.... We do have some private local tire places and when and if I find what I want I will pitch it to them for a quote.
With so many other good tire outfits around I probably won't even visit the NTB.
One of the local places, we get the major service to my Taco and my S.O's new Subie, they are very good and trustworthy and sell tires etc. So I may make a pitch to them and see what's available too.
Those wheels on that Fla Taco were 5 or 6 spoke and chrome and I will continue to look thru the archives for them. Thanks

There's a new townfair tire location in Norwood that I've had great luck with. I found some low-down dirty internet pricing on the tires I wanted and they matched it. I even had Toyota check the alignment afterwards (because I had heard the horror stories with Townfair, but it was dead on and Toyota didn't even charge me for checking it out). I went with Cooper ATR's, a little more aggressive than I probably needed seeing how I'm on the road most of the time, but a great winter tire and fairly quiet on pavement.

One of my buddys got a complete tire and wheel package from them also and so far has had no complaints.

Vision Warrior. If you get on Discount's website and search wheels by vehicle...it should be the first one that comes up. They look a lot different to me by themselves (stock pic) than they do on the the truck like the pic above.

And of course ProEFX Towing Mirrors!

Long distance tire quoted me something like $35 to patch one of my Dunlops one time. They told me it was because of the 17" rims. I left there laughing at them and went to town fair tire where they did it for free. When I bought new tires it took a bit of work but they sold me my Hankook's lower than any internet site I could find. Be careful of some Town Fairs though as they tend to hire young inexperienced kids. I always have the best luck with the S. Attleboro store and the alignment tech has been there forever and does a great job.

One of my friends mentioned above bought a gorgeous set of tires and wheels, from Town Fair in Shrewsbury, he has dealt with them for 20yrs, when he found just what he wanted, for his new Hemi R/T he started to bargain with them ....back and forth over a period of a few months(as his new R/T was being made) they quoted 2500 for everything and would not budge until he placed a call to their HQ and told them he would drive to NH and get them tax free and at a lower price....they made a call to Shrewsbury and he got his tires and wheels at a much better price.
Sometimes you just have to work on it and this guy has that touch.

I have not heard any horror stories about Town Fair. To me they seem to do a good job....

All of this wheel talk got me motivated. Just called Discount to make an appointment for tomorrow morning. They just quoted me $438.41 out the door. Plus there is a $75.00 mail-in or online rebate for $75.00 so my total will be $363.41 when all is said and done.

Just wheels for now. I have some Kumho 245/75/16's on there now but they are in way too good of shape to change out. They are only a few months old. So that part kind of sucks because I really want 265/75/16's AT's with the new wheels. All in time. I'll drive it with the current tires for another year and a half or so, then swap out tires.
