2nd gen water leak on passenger side floor

Hey guys, so I have red through alot of threads. I am a little confused. What exactly leaks after having the windshield replaced?... Here is where I am having the leak. It is leaking down in behind the kick panel and pudding on the floor under the carpet of the passenger side. I am not understanding what leaks after having the windshield replaced?

 

The cowling for the AC air intake

 

Typically that leaks in to the Air Box that contains the Cabin Filter and Blower Motor.

Since he says it started AFTER the replacement windshield was installed.
I’m going to say it is inadequate sealant or adhesive.
A faulty installation is likely the reason it leaks.

OP,

If you feel inclined to try and find the leak yourself.
You can have a friend run a water hose over the windshield while you look up under the dash.
You’ll likely need to pull the kick panel and glove box. Maybe a few other things.
I’d personally let place that installed the windshield take a look at it.
I don’t really like working upside down or in cramped places if I don’t have too.

 

That's what I thought they were saying. So I guess there is no need to replace the cowl then?.. Thank you for clearing that up for me.

 

Thank you for your reply. Yes for sure I will be investigating were this water is coming from.

 

As a test, first ensure the windshield replacement did not remove or disturb the rubber edge seal on the cowl that can be seen with removing anything.

Asa temporary test, take a low adhesion tape, like clear packaging tape, and seal the cowls upper edge to the glass. See if this stops the problem. Very common issue after replacement of the windshield, and has been for many years.

Edit I do see that in a couple spots the seal is not contacting the glass. Is about a 6in long area and it is on the passenger side.

 

Likely that is your leak.
