So I recently got new tires that are bigger than the stock ones, so now it doesn't count miles the way it should, when the speedometer shows 60mph it's actually doing 65, and my miles to empty is wrong too. Anyways, I called the dealer and they said that's aftermarket work and they don't do that, so I called the place they recommended and they quoted me about $300 for the part and about another $150 for the labor.

I've got to wonder, are they just trying to rip me off? I can't believe modern day vehicles still use a mechanical gear system for this and that it isn't all calculated electronically...

    Bunch of different mods
ScanGauge II can be customized to show vehicle speed, and it can be calibrated for different tire size. Plus it gives you a lot of other info

What a rip off that place is, don't go back. Just buy the above part yourself and put it in yourselves. I haven't done this to my truck, I have bigger wheels, but I havent put this in yet.
    What about California tacos?

So.. according to my math for the 33” tires I put on it works out to +1mph for every 15mph.

    ODOMETER/ ACTUAL

    15mph / 16mph
    30mph / 32mph
    45mph / 48mph
    60mph / 64mph
    75mph / 80mph
    90mph / Ticket!

I just keep the 60&70 in mind and add 4&5 and you’ll be fine

Note: there’s actually a tire calculator online so it’s not my math

65 on my speedo = 69 actual. Good to know. Doesn't bother me enought (yet) to fix it lol.

Hell, I've got the stock wheels/tires and my speedo is off by 4 MPH (slow) at 70. I just adjust accordingly.

The gas gauge is great for that.

It's not accurate WITH stock wheels/tires. Shows 0 with about 4-5 gallons still in the tank. If you're concerned, drive it down to under 10 miles left and then fill up. Bet you can only get about 16-17 gallons in the 21 gallon tank.

When I bought my truck with 285's already on it I was concerned about how fast am I really going.
There has been a lot of interstate work in my area so I encounter those radar "your speed is" machines.
From what I see my speedometer is dead on.

Has anyone tried this, or the HyperTech, on a 2020 3.5L?

The dealer installed one of the hypertech or rough country modules.

Manufacturers do this to keep the highways from being littered with stalled vehicles and idiots walking with gas cans.

When I was a truck shop foreman with drivers complaining about speedo inaccuracies I'd tell them to check their odometer against the mile markers.

This would give me a percentage to go by to get an adapter. You can also just calculate it easily. 10% slow will be 66mph at 60, 77 at 70 etc.
