Dude I don’t even want to IMAGINE that smell coming into the cabin even with all the windows down

 

Basically my reaction towards my phone when I saw what it was lol. I could almost smell it through my phone

It’s an air freshener. The claims of HP and mileage increase may vary with application. Installing more than one is not recommended for street use. Void in California.

 

Is that a Metra or Scosche? I'd like to replace mine with that charcol grey color and the rounded corner around the HU. A link would be great if you have it.

Agreed on the actual formulation of the material, but sourcing it is another story. I sent off to them for a quote on 20 feet, but finding it elsewhere is proving to be a real issue. Neoprene (chloroprene) is easier to find and may be less expensive. Given its relatively low exposure to UV, but high exposure to moisture, even if it only lasts five years, it's still an okay burden in terms of cost to replace. I don't need it to last thirty years on a truck I may only have for ten.

Since the cab and bed flex independently of one another, I would think that it would be better for them to be able to move independently.

I need to go to Home Depot for some things anyway. If I remember, I'll see if they have any of the EDPM (or whatever the acronym) in thick enough strips. I know they have the smaller stuff...

Even a reduction in that gap might prove to be beneficial.

That's why I was shooting for a two part solution. This is what I got back from Minor:

Having checked both of them, there is nothing in an extruded line, or hollow rubber seal line that is more than an inch high. Anything higher is a press-on. You can still pick up two 3/4" hollow rubber seals and press them together, just I feel like it can't be D extruded at that point but must be square type. McMaster-Carr has the square type in 3/4" height, however.

I pulled them off, scuffed lightly with fine scotch pad...its about 4 or 5 coats of Krylon fusion , matte black, light scuff between coats and VERY light coat each time...really started out to wrap them and wasn't happy with the results...

 

Hory Crap I've seen less technical posts on how to re gear then this just funnin, never gave much thought to the outside noise thing, maybe the noise off the roof rack is why, but its interesting.....

I was just at the dealership looking at those with the gf. She fell in love with the adventure series in a matte green color. Until she saw the 42K dollar price tag... At that price, she said she'd rather just get the 4runner (which is what she really wanted anyway).

 

The Adventure is very cool, there was one here last year in Lunar Rock that looked awesome. Pretty hefty price on those though. Would definitely need some KO2s!

 

I don't believe there are any products that will be tall enough and be hollow inside. Toyota basically attaches a blade of rubber to one side and lets it span the gap. The rubber is hard enough to stand in the gap, but still flexible enough to not damage the attachment point on impact.

Maybe take the stock Toyota bed seal and add 3M adhesive? The parts number is 57177-04010 (same number for L/R side)
