A little update from me. Finishing up week 2 of 5/3/1 and love it. I also started working more on grip strength since this thread was talking about Fat Grips and different grip exercises and I had a set. On DL started training more on hook grip and my thumbs are killing me, but probably worth it after watching some nasty mixed grip DL videos about biceps relocating themselves, don't recommend watching that.

Today my office is having a happy hour to celebrate the grand-opening of the gym facilities that I recently procured new equipment for. I wish I had before and after photos because it looks great! The best part is that I will be using the gym today after the event, woot!

@PackCon and I guess anyone else, how do hydrate before your races/events?

I usually do my normal amount of water the day before and then drink water and Pedialyte all day during the competition, along with eating between events. That has worked well so far, but I was thinking of starting the Pedialyte this afternoon to maybe like "advance my hydration" if that makes any sense.

Down 1 lb, feeling great, eating is fairly clean but I've increased carbs with breakfast a little bit.
Last nights workout was upright bike, weights on the circuit, and stair machine to finish it out.

Anavar is a steroid not a supplement. Probably don't take it just yet if you aren't aware of that....

But other than that its pretty mild/low side effect and decent if you are already lower BF. Won't do a lot of good if you're fat but it'll help with lean gains and cutting. Its a good first time oral steroid for noobs.

That makes a lot of sense. Just going through the motions, no weight or bar, I can see how doing that could cause the bicep to tear.

I view hydration as an all the time thing, not in a singular place and time thing. Because if I attempt to freak out and hydrate prior to a race (assuming a distance of 13+ miles) I can over hydrate causing issues for myself that can be more difficult to compensate for than if I was dehydrated. Flushing electrolytes being the big problem.
So over hydration and dehydration are big problems, especially in races over 20 miles.

I typically do 2 cups of coffee in the AM with 24oz of water. So I just keep that the same race morning. The day before is same as training days.

Typically I have it down to a science for the race. X amount of salt tabs or electrolyte tabs with Y ounces of water per hour depending on race duration and weather.

Why 180? just cause, or are you wanting to compete in bodybuilding or something?

I feel like 180lb at 5'6" would be pretty thicc… But idk.

Guess I will stick with what I've done in the past then. I don't want to change too much at once and mess myself up come showtime.

Lol. I have no idea what im talking about. I am by no means a body builder. Maybe 170ish would be more realistic? 160? I just wanna cut and look good. I lost alot of weight after my back surgeries and looked super skinny. Again, i am not a big dude. Maybe i overshot on weight. Lol

Bruh I can't relate lol I'm 6'4" 316lb.... So don't take my advice on what weight works for you.

However, I will say that it doesn't make a lot of sense to want to put on that much weight to get "cut". If you want to cut you need to lose weight/fat.

Im 6’2” and 299 but my .02 is to shoot for 165 or so, I believe “overweight” per military standards at my height is 205-210 range and you’re 8” shorter than me so that would cut a bit of weight.

5’6” 180 would be very thiccc. 3 Cs at least. However. At 5’8, I’d like to be about 180. But, ya know, not a fat 180. I’m a fat 160 right now, but I don’t really care currently. I may just bulk to 170-175 and then do a really slow cut. Beach szn won’t be a good look for me this year...but I don’t care. I don’t go to the beach or the lake often enough for it to bother me.

Gaining to 180 and then trying to be cut, well this sounds backwards lol. Just slow cut from where you are. Should be able to realistically hold weight and chip away the fat. Might take a year being natty, but that's the game we play as lifters. Unless you wanna lose a bunch of weight and be cut, then that's much easier.

Depending on what kind of muscle you currently have, 150 is probably where you’d start looking shredded.
