You are supposed to scatter those around the truck as an early warning system. When you hear, 'OH MY GOD MY FOOT!!' That's when you grab the gun.

Serious reply - steel skids should help. I would have to climb under there to see how much they limit access, but they are a in the ass to put on and take off without a helper or a jack. It should definitely delay the process unless they don't cover the cats. I honestly never paid attention to where the cats sit in relation to the skids.

    Get a cat-less u-pipe. Can't steal them if they aren't there!

Or just have insurance to cover it when it happens once every 10 years. Support local treatment centers and social programs.

I once came back to the parking lot after snowmobiling and at least 10 of the 20 trucks had gotten their cats cut out. Luckily not mine. Now NH makes the scrap yards get verified identification from anyone wanting to scrap nickel or platinum. That's what the real problem is... how your state handles the scrap yards. Need to hold them accountable.

I hauled some scrap fixtures from my work to the scrappers once, they made me come back and get a letter on company letterhead stating I had permission to sell said stuff. I said I don't mind one bit and smiled to let them see all my teeth.

They moved the converter further upstream to make theft more difficult on the 3rd Gen.

They also screwed the transmissions up on the 3rd gens as well. Put the cat back and fix the trans, I'm in.

Welp that's OP's problem then.... because California.

His specific city is the one that has a mile long homeless encampment along Joe Rodota Trail that can't be touched due to recent 9th district rulings.
