Ontario BS Thread

Hey everyone!

For those coming to the Winter Wheeling event tomorrow, there are going to be 2 groups on the trails. One will be leaving at 9am and another at 10am.

We are hoping to get everyone at Rays, waivers signed, and shirts handed out prior to you hitting the trail. There will be 27 rigs (as of right now) and a few of us running around getting organized.

Save drive for everyone leaving Saturday morning. Weather is going to be sweet for the trails, but shit for the highway.

 

My previous truck got its first stone chip close to the A-pillar. It grew to a 3" crack within a day. I took it to a local glass shop where they drilled a small crack stop hole, then filled the crack with resin. The repair held for the remainder of the truck's life. Since the first one, I've been diligent with filling in the chips. I've had good luck with the Permatex resin as long as it is cured properly.

 

i'll need to look into that if that's the case, i've not trusted fill-ins for a bit because of bad experiences. but then again the last time i had done it was maybe 6 years ago and i'm sure the technology has improved by a lot since then.

 

Those that are coming for WWWF2020 tomorrow, the morning convoy leaves at 6:35AM from King City OnRoute. Look for tacos.

Convince me to keep my catalytic converters....

I've deleted the primary cats with the long tube headers just to figure out all the flanges on the y pipe have rusted beyond repair. I can get a re route 2.25" y pipe fabbed without the cats for $300 materials in. What do you guys think?

 

There are no O2 sensors downstream of the secondary cats, so deleting them have no effect on system indication. The smell may be worse though.

There are lots of options for an aftermarket y pipe. I'm basically getting that made for $200 less.

 

That one is for 3rd gen. In any case you wouldn't want one that fits in the stock location. Better to route the crossover pipe aft of the transfer case for ground clearance.

Anyway, the only drawback in Ontario for running cat-less is the smell.

 

I've heard similar complaints in my research. I'm just trying to get as much info as possible about possible cons. Definitely doing the re-route.

I think the MTO green police can slap you with a $400 ticket, per cat. I had a buddy charged on a ‘70s firebird, friggen car was E-test exempt, but some dick farmer was out to harvest my buddy’s tuition to meet some quota.
I don’t know if/how this has changed at all with the Ford gov’t.

The DriveClean test is just an OBD2 scan for drive cycle and codes right? Removing the aft cats wouldn't affect it.

 

Yes, this is true...the only crutch in this is visual inspection at a roadside stop still applies...so a gung-ho officer of the peace could cause grief to someone should he look. I have a 86 IROC with smog emissions removed that has not been required for clean air test for 14 yrs now. Could still get hamstrung should someone do a peekaboo

 

That's my way of thinking. It does cost more but...
