Hey! Im super new to the Tacoma world. I have had mine for almost a year now. It was a total pap truck when I got it. Im looking for some advice on lifts, wheels, etc. I moved into a Tacoma after getting rid of my Ram 1500, it was lifted. So I am familiar with lift brands, etc. I appreciate any input. Thanks! :)

There are so many different options to choose from that it would be hard to recommend one.
A lot will depend one what you intend to do with your truck once lifted.
I always advise buying the best you can afford.

    I’d recommend giving Marie a call @HeadStrong Off-Road.

She will be happy to help you choose the best lift for your budget and intent.

How much lift did that give you? I just ordered the exact set up from Wheeler's and am shooting for 2" after settling.

What is an average size lift/leveling kit for Tacomas without getting into replacing other parts? (I don't mind going through the necessary steps and replacing other things, just for knowledge)

There is a ton of information on this forum, you can spend weeks searching through it. I recommend using the search feature and researching everything before you consider dropping money into any set up.

You can lift up to 2.5-3 inches while keeping the stock upper controls arms. Most people here are lifted 3 inches which will look/perform great and allow you to throw some 33 inch tires without rubbing as well.

If I were you I'd consider OME 887 springs on OME 90000 nitrochargers, with a Dakar leafpack for the rear. Pair all of that with SPC upper control arms. Should give you a full 3 inch lift.

This is great info, thank you. Like I said I dont mind replacing some things. My Tacoma has 70k on it so I am sure it needs it! Haha. I more or less wanted to know how big can you go before replacing X, how much bigger can you go after replacing X, etc.

If you are 4x4 (not prerunner) the most you should really go is 3 inches. If you do one of those 6 inch lift kits you have to cut some cross member (not sure what it's called) and the lift is permanent. Kind of looks dumb and your center of gravity is shit at that point.

I was actually looking at Zone lift kits prior to this thread and the 4" and 6" kits, they dont even offer for a TRD. 6" sometimes look ridiculous on full size trucks so I couldnt imagine putting one on a Tacoma unless you actually have use for all that. Im totally ok with a 2.5"-3".

I ordered and had installed at 4W Parts.

I don’t have the invoice with me but i think it was $1800 with the springs, Dakar’s and 5100’s front and back.
I got right at 2 inches and am happy with it.

3 inches sounds like nothing until you lift the truck and throw some 285/70/17's on it. Huge difference and looks great. Anything higher IMO looks a little ridiculous.

I totally agree, after looking at some of the members build threads; 3" looks really good. Thanks for all the advice!
