I wasn’t planning to finance anyway. At best they would have gotten one month of interest.

Have you taken the Q60 to Carmax or other third party dealers for an appraisal? If they're offering a higher price, nothing wrong with selling it to Carmax and then using the cash for down. At the worst case at least you have something in writing to argue with the dealer

^^^A Carmax appraisal for the Q60 is a must before you go back to any dealership.

At a minimum I always have my cars pre-appraised before I walk into a dealership. When dealers low-ball me on my trade, I produce the written appraisal and the dealerships always magically meet the appraisal price.

This ^ how I bought my last few trucks. I would shop for lowest new truck price as well as shop trade quotes but separate and then use the quotes and new truck prices to get the best deal, takes some skill though as most will try to say well look they are giving you more off MSRP or we are doing this, etc. Problem as I mentioned too is trading in a non toyota is rough, no one wants to buy a used infiniti from a Toyota dealer and they can't certify it and pad the price, etc. I hate being that guy but I wouldn't expect an infiniti or sports car to really hold value either.

Ditto. If I plan on trading in a vehicle I religiously get a CarMax appraisal before I step foot in a dealership. I also never mention a trade until we can agree in a selling price.

If I was in a hurry, I would have just written a check today.

But I wanted to drive the car there, sign paperwork, and drive the truck home.

Then start moving my mods from the 2015 Tacoma to the 2020.

But that didn’t happen so I’m feeling lazy.

It’s ok. I already know what it’s worth wholesale and retail.

I had a G35 and a G37. Corvette, too. I am well aware of the market. Just didn’t feel like giving it away today.

Gotcha, ya I can feel ya, I've been lucky enough to always be trading in a Taco so both me and the dealer know they aint gonna just take it from me.

Time is on your side. Dealers get hungry as the last day of the month gets closer. January 31st, the last day of this month, would be the ideal day to strike a deal on a Tacoma.

I haven't found one Taco with the LED headlights (which I would like) or the Adv Tech (which I don't care about) anywhere at the 15 closest dealers. Either they are getting special ordered and never going to allotment or dealers know that ~$45k is the most they can charge for a TRD-OR and would rather add silly stuff with huge margins to get there.

Find a dealer that will let you place an order for EXACTLY what you want. Don’t settle, you will regret it.

Several I've talked to have basically said anything on the lot they can give me a better price on than something I order or they swap with from another dealer for. It makes sense, hard to expect to get to order AND be around 12% off. One could dream though! Also noticed not many with the Tech without Premium as well. I wish that leather was separate like on 16-18(?) Where you could get cloth heated seats and sunroof. My BMW daily has leather, as well as my wifes Honda and while we are careful the leather gets scratched and shows age too fast IMO. Rather have cloth in a truck.

A custom order is a super easy sale for a stealership, it’s very Tesla like.

New to the forum, so I’d definitely like someone more experienced to chime in re: whether posting the sales doc is kosher. Only add on I had was floor mats I believe. I did have them sell me blackout emblems and a bed mat, but they did those at their “cost” so not sure how much margin was there. Only admin fee from the dealer was $199 doc. The rest was TTL.

seems to be a lot of I don’t want to buy a truck unless it has LED headlights. I doubt I could tell the difference between any of them, would something like these be just as good?

Then truck I almost bought today has the advanced technology package, premium package, and the led lights. I really only wanted the regular tech package, but their price was low enough to accept it.

I just really surprised how few of the trucks the dealers ordered have the new led front lights. In my opinion they should just be part of the premium package. It’s surprising it’s a standalone option that seems to be completely ignored.

It seems the dealers didn’t think it looked good, or it would be rejected by potential buyers.

I agree, I commented earlier that they are likely holding out putting them on the most popular trim until the early 2020s are sold. That way they create a few extra sales in the summer.
