    This problem is a basic math problem, not really related to fly ash. You could substitute any widget that has three basic types.

    Let X be the total quantity of fly ash
    Let S be the recovered quantity 0-5um fly ash
    Let M be the recovered quantity 5-10um fly ash
    Let L be the recovered quantity 10-50um fly ash

    The quantity recovered of 0-5um fly ash S = (0.05)(0.6)X
    Likewise, M = (0.45)(0.18)X and L = (0.82)(0.12)X

    The overall recovery of fly ash = (S + M + L)/X * 100 = [(0.05)(0.6)+(0.45)(0.18)+(0.82)(0.12)]*100 = 20.94%

    Your professor should put units (%) on the Recovery column, as this ambiguity causes confusion.
