What do you guys think of Scotty Kilmer? He's apparently this super knowledgeable independent mechanic with like 50+ years of experience who posts gobs of videos about everything cars.

    https://www.youtube.com/user/scottykilmer/videos

The videos are interesting, but I do see some pitfalls. Like telling us too many things of what not to do or what not to buy. I think if anyone actually followed all his advice, you'd be riding a bicycle because you'd pretty much buy almost nothing. He'll criticize something, but then later do a video like oh, I Was Wrong About Dodge Rams, I Was Wrong About Fords, etc.

He also constantly does a lot of videos acting like it's the end of something ("Bye"). Oh, they're shutting down my video channel. Oh, I'm being sued by the manufacturer. Oh, this'll be my last video. Oh, I'm shutting down my shop. Constantly posting like it's the big end of something, but then he keeps on posting more and more videos. LOL.

Millions of views and prolly making a fortune off the ads. I call it click-bait. Agree or disagree?

Where did the thread photo come from, with the guy standing by the hood? I didn't put that there.

He’s ok. Makes close to a million a year off YouTube I’ve read. He is good in small doses.

He gives false impressions sometimes doing a 5 min video and making a timing belt change look like a 4 step 30 min job. Not really a fan.

My mom always said if you don't have anything nice to say about someone, don't say anything at all, but I don't really like her either. I've only watched a couple of his videos and he was clearly drunk. MOron IMHO.

This dude gets on my nerves. I can’t bare more than a minute of his videos. I don’t think he really knows as much as he or his fans claim. Hot take: I don’t like Seinfeld either so maybe I’m the odd one.

I think it was Hoovies garage who did a hands on a car contest. One of the ways he tried to get people to let go was by playing Scotty Kilmer videos at full volume. Freaking hilarious.:rofl::rofl:

I don't watch 'em any more, but there was one video titled something like My Last Video or I'm Out (with the usual 'Bye' thing he does in the previews) and it was total blatant clickbait to make money. The actual video has him talking about other stuff and then he keeps making more videos. Nothing to do with ending anything. That's a common tactic he uses to get viewers to click and watch. Oh, I'm shutting down my shop, oh I'm done, oh I got sued, oh...

It's always the end of something, but it's not and he's just making up crap to swindle your attention. It works (for him), cos within hours, he'll get like 100,000 views.
