New to the forum, so I’d definitely like someone more experienced to chime in re: whether posting the sales doc is kosher. Only add on I had was floor mats I believe. I did have them sell me blackout emblems and a bed mat, but they did those at their “cost” so not sure how much margin was there. Only admin fee from the dealer was $199 doc. The rest was TTL.

seems to be a lot of I don’t want to buy a truck unless it has LED headlights. I doubt I could tell the difference between any of them, would something like these be just as good?

Then truck I almost bought today has the advanced technology package, premium package, and the led lights. I really only wanted the regular tech package, but their price was low enough to accept it.

I just really surprised how few of the trucks the dealers ordered have the new led front lights. In my opinion they should just be part of the premium package. It’s surprising it’s a standalone option that seems to be completely ignored.

It seems the dealers didn’t think it looked good, or it would be rejected by potential buyers.

I agree, I commented earlier that they are likely holding out putting them on the most popular trim until the early 2020s are sold. That way they create a few extra sales in the summer.

I actually read somewhere here on the forum that while the LED headlights look cool and more modern from the outside, that the light they actually produce is very disappointing and actually inferior to the standard lights. No first hand knowledge of this however.

The early 2020 owners seemed to indicate otherwise. Pretty sure the green Pro owners said the LED lights were nice and bright.

Installing LED bulbs in headlight reflectors designed for halogens give poor results. The TRD pro and LED options headlights in the 2020 Tacoma are different.

I’ve heard the opposite. Those that have them love them.
Also, they are demonstrably better than halogen in EVERY test. Part of the reason Toyota did them was to earn the IIHS safety award, which it does with LED headlights. Check out their test results, further, better light in every test.

Most definitely not as good. See all the lighting threads but halogen bulbs are designed to work with halogen reflectors. LED bulbs such as these emit light from a different position so the reflectors cannot work as they should. The result is always a ton of glare for oncoming drivers and poor light quality for you. They should be avoided like the plague.
also as a side note, these $109 dollar bulbs are probably the same generic manufacturer and same terrible quality as ones 1/3-1/2 the price on Amazon. So if you’re going buy them, at least save money.

I have a 2020 with LEDs. They are worth every penny. My last truck had LEDs, since then, I’d never go without on future vehicles. When I get into my wife’s or friends cars, I feel like I’m driving without lights, it is that different.

I retrofitted the new 2020 LED’s headlights on my 2019 and the difference is literally night and day. The added bonus? The amber turn signals are sequential.

I would not consider purchasing any 2020 Tacoma unless it had the $485 LED option. Retrofitting them at a later date is going to cost you almost 3x the price and the inconvenience of partially disassembling the front end of your brand new truck to install them.

Not buying any, the posts got me curious and my knowledge on the subject is very limited. The 19 lights are so much better than the 2002 Tundra I had I hadn’t really given lights much thought.

I think a couple people are confused on the poster's question. I think he means that the aftermarket LED bulbs that retrofit in the halogen headlights test worse than the OEM headlights. As far as the factory LEDs are concerned everything I have read is that they are better. Some folks have complained that they don't work as well in snow storms (no heat to melt snow) and don't shine through snow as well. IDK, no snow in North Texas to speak of, lol. Does make me curious what owners in the in the Rockies, NE, and mid-west think though.

Wow how things vary. I ran the same using my zipcode and look at the difference.

I wouldn’t say rebel, as much as bad habit, my retirement savings would certainly be bigger at this point or could have had a way modded out taco, but new car smell is fun.

This not true. Installing poor/cheap LED bulbs give bad results.

Even the best LEDs installed in a halogen reflector headlight housing will provide bed results. There's an entire sticky thread on this subject.

Correct, the housing /projector is not designed for LED bulbs.
