Good reminder on why to always use jackstands no matter what you are doing, or keep your ass out from under the vehicle.

So it appears that CVJ assembled this CV incorrectly. The snap ring is below the tri joint while it's supposed to be above. Going to go tear the other one open to see if it's the same. And then check one of my broken OEM CVs. This CV was off the passenger side of my truck that had the brass hub shavings.

One of my Exp Rally buds just dropped his first video on youtube. I like it. He did better than I would have done on the first time out. The group would stop for people to take a break, chat, and get pictures every couple of hours. Overall they made very good time through the route and were running ahead of schedule.

I don't know jack shit about audio. I just want it to work!

On another note, finally received and installed the new power steering reservoir hose. The old one was so brittle I was able to snap it in half by hand.

Oh, my cracked valve cover from me over tightening the PCV valve has not leaked. Glad something worked out. No rush to replace the valve cover now.

Lol like I told someone else in another thread, if you were closer I'd be happy to lend a hand.

Audio, whether home or auto, is my forte.

:facepalm:I swear man, less and less am I trusting remans of anything. Wtf... That sucks dude. And CVJ specializes in CV axles? o_O Thats scary. If they care as a company they'll rush one out to you, well I'd imagine they would. Who knows with businesses anymore nowadays

The defender 90 used to be my dream 4x4, this was back before I knew any better like when I was 15-16. Just based strictly on the looks. And they're aluminum body too. Nice and light, but there's that part of it where the mechanicals and electricals/electronics are still done by Land Rover/Range Rover unfortunately :D and what kinda makes it a ridiculously handsome steaming pile
But I do admit, some of the coolest looking 4x4s ever made, have been by Range Rover

I just tore open another broken manual hub OEM CV (one that was seized inside a blown up diff). And found the snap ring in the same spot contrary to the Toyota diagram. I no longer have any ADD CVs sitting around to compare to. I've always been told the only difference is the outer ends. This is just confusing. Doesn't change my opinion towards CVJ though. Some shady business practices with them. People have received CVs with aftermarket parts and couldn't get a refund.

Now that's got me wondering if these are even the correct axles, since they don't match the diagram? Or maybe they aren't oem axles that they are rebuilding and selling. Can you tell if it's a Toyota or aftermarket axle?

The one I just took apart is 100% OEM. It's got the OEM part number sticker still. The previous owner of my flatbed told me he couldn't replace the driver side CV because it wouldn't come out. This is because he ran the diff dry of fluid. It's inner shaft is one with the blown up front diff.

Now back to the CVJ axles that my silver double cab was running. I've disassembled one of the CVs and it's c clip matches the OEM axle I took apart from the flatbed. But according to all the Toyota diagrams and Timmy's CV axle reboot video the c clip is put on wrong. The CVJ axles appear to be using all OEM parts. Might be an ADD vs manual hub thing?

When I was a safety manager we had a guy almost lose his arm when a vehicle mounted conveyor slipped off a hoist, we had a few mechanics killed over the years when equipment fell on them. Also had a bunch of near misses, can never be too careful!

Dont get me going on hi lifts, its probibly the most dangerous tool people have!
