    Hi guys,

After lurking for a while I finally decided to join:) great knowledge is better shared:)
Anyway I am the proud owner of a 2003 Tacoma TRD with 230 k miles, transmission got rebuilt last year ( it died in Mexico )
While overseas the truck has been sitting for 7 month indoor without battery and fuel stab in the tank.
Now time to pass emission in AZ and boom it failed the guy was saying that it needs to be driven for a while to reinitiate the system...
After 1/2 tank of mix driving the computer showed EVAP and CAT with red cross.
My question is how can I get my truck to pass again? Is it fuel related?

Welcome aboard. Much more info is needed here. What codes were present? EVAP cycles take multiple drive cycles to activate and reset. This may be a simple fix.

You need to make something like 50 trips with the vehicle before you can test it again. Disconnecting the battery resets the computer and clears trouble codes.

A engine ready check can be helpful. DO NOT DISCONNECT BATTERY that would put you back to 0 on the cycles toward engine ready all greens.

Showing green check, no yellow cautions or red stored codes. OK. Drive cycles are yet to be completed for Cat and EVAP tests.

    Ok thanks! Basically keep driving?
Btw fuel stab could have damaged some sensors?

Obd2 requires 2 drive cycles to complete the tests normally- cold start then drive until full operating temp-would recommend at least a few miles of freeway speed to bring o2 sensors online. if you fail the first test the retest should be free, but if you drive it today and run it up to operating temp your readiness codes should set. Had the same issue with my 04 after setting for a couple years- fresh gas and 2 drive cycles of around 10 miles each and it went right through.
