That’s nothing. Flew to California for a family vacation last June and rented a minivan to drive there. They gave us a 2019 Chrysler. The damn gear control is right next to the radio. I almost turned that twice while driving to turn the radio volume up

I want to say something sarcastic, but I actually kind of like it. Pretty cool. I need it in BBP. Although it does look like I might stab myself while reaching for the heated mirrors. Maybe just angle?

I'm fooking pissed off...last weekend, big snow storm, went out to play in about 6 inches with the nanny controls off...figured lets put in 4wd to the playpen and get my Manual recommended lube miles in. Well fuck me if I didn't crank the cabin temp down to 16C. Didn't notice right away and wouldn't ya know it I hear the noise...

Ugh, wife complaining about the cold temp in the truck...you all know that sound

Fortunately was still in 2WD and the fish tailing on purpose calmed her...all worked out!

AGREE 1000% Absolutely stupid place to put this knob. Shouldn't even be a knob...should be a button all by itself where you don't have to put on your reading glasses to see what the hell it says. I've turned it several times when I was trying to crank the heat.

Half of those that are giving you shit in this thread have done this themselves but wont admit it.

C'mon Toyota...let's think a little more about being a leader here and design the interior for people that might need to focus more on the road than reading the tiny text on your stupidly placed knobs.

Anyone ever try to turn on/off the automatic headlights without leaning over to see the button??? There are lots of places they could put controls and buttons that wouldn't require one to lose focus on driving just to find the controls.

This 56 year old guy who uses reading glasses to see the tiny text is serious...….

I go in and out of 4WD several times on a trip to work in the winter, as the roads clear up I have to switch to 2WD only to go back to 4WD a few miles down the road. This knob is in a dumb spot and really needs to be away from the heater knob....or at least significantly different looking (without putting on my readers).

I have the same issue with the push-to-start button. It pushes just like the heated seats button. Damned if I could even count how many times I've shut off the engine meaning to just turn the heated seats on. And don't get me started on the stupid manual brake lever being in the center console like the gear shift. I was meaning to pop over to S-4 and pulled the brake on. That was interesting! Fortunately I had just turn the heater up (but really turn 4H on) so I didn't spin totally out of control. The only time I didn't make these errors was the one time I just opened a door on the port side of the truck and climbed in - took me about 0.037 seconds to realize I had gotten in the rear of the truck. What idiot designed the doors to look the same and use the same handles like this?

Look back a few posts because there is a solution. A guy put a C**K ring around his 4wd knob.

It should have a different shape to it for sure. I don't think I've accidentally turned it on but I have grabbed it when reaching for the blower switch. Design over function.
