Yep. I agree it looks like a crimped on metal top to a medicine bottle.

That looks like a heavy duty top, I wonder if it could have actually been the top of an old style syringe?

I spoke with my buddy but don't have a picture of the spur to share. He looked at your picture and said that the rowel on his spur is of a smaller diameter and the arms are shaped a little differently. He didn't much more to say.

I finally got out today for the first time. All I found was a bunch of bullet casings and a slug. A few were 6 inches deep. I didn't have much time, but was tons of fun.

I didn't care for the sponge grip so I swapped in a bicycle grip.

Good for you! Looks like we both have a pile of casing and lead.

How do you like your Garrett?

The ACE 300 did well. I think it's a good machine for my skill level. I had It on Relic Mode today and it detected a very small piece of foil 3 or 4 inched down. I found the pinpointer (Garrett Pro Pointer AT) extremely helpful while sifting through pine needles and dirt.
Next time I'll try to get a little more "off the beaten path".

I think Garrett makes good stuff. "Off the beaten path" is a great idea. It is fun to detect churches and schools, but generally those places see a lot of detectors. That can still be productive, though.
A pinpointer is worth it's weight in gold! Makes for quick work recovering finds.
I went out today and dug a bunch of trash.

Lots of Old West history around here. Never know what I'll find.

I take it you are in Prescott, AZ. Lots of history there! I think it got going in the mid-1800's. Very cool!
If so, you have a cool detecting supply store in Arizona Outback.

Yes Prescott, AZ. I'll have to look at Arizona Outback.
