here how the story ends: I greased the fan bracket bearing, the sound did not go. Sold the truck because I did not have the time or the place to do the repairs ( I am studying in the city and I don't have a garage). I sold it also because dad gave me his Tacoma 2002 2.7L 4x4 kingcab.

So it was the power steering pulley? I just replaced my pump a couple months ago and everything was all good and quiet and now I am hearing pump noise again. Was hoping it wasn't the pump again...

Fuck nvm, just saw last post.

Hey night prowler, I know this is a few years back now, but I'm having a similar if not the same issues and looking for advice. My noise sounds EXACTLY like your video, so could you advise on what you did? It locked up on you and was that shredded picture right? Would like to catch it before that, but already have about 1-2k on the noise.

Typing this standing in my garage with all belts pulled, and when run without belts that terrible whirring noise stayed strong. Did it end up being the tensioner or what?

    Anything helps, thanks so much!

Water pump went out. The bearing inside the water pump to be precise, is what you're hearing. It wont last too much longer. I'd park it if i were you if it's been going for that many miles. Otherwise you risk it seizing up your motor. And since you're gonna need a water pump, you might as well do the whole shabang. Idk if theres still a kit on eBay, but there was a go-to seller that sold a whole timing belt and water pump kit for a good price that many here went with including myself. All oem stuff.

@NightProwler and anyone else who can help.

See My thread below. I did the timing belt kit back in March 2020 @124k. Roughly 10k miles later my truck started making noise. At first, I suspected the fan clutch and or bracket so I replaced both but the sound was still present. Also removed each belt and ran the truck with out the TB cover. Also the sound comes on after the engine is at operating temp if that helps. Thanks.
