HOW TO CHANGE A FUEL FILTER.

Hey guys, I have a 96, 4 cyl Tacoma and need help changing my fuel filter. any videos or tips on how to do it? Thanks in advance.

 

its best to remove driver side wheel. like chris said, its a PITA.

 

depressurize the fuel system...remove the gas cap...pull the EFI fuse or disconnect the fuel pump...

 

Be re-born as a small Asian engineer/mechanic..... I'm 6'2" and 235 lbs. My arms don't bend in the correct direction and I wrench on a lot of shit. Remove the drivers side wheel and practice your contortionist moves. There are the banjo style bolts on either side and there is a "band" that bolts it to the underside of the manifold. It was a real bearcat but I got the bugger. Don't think mine had ever been replaced until I did it at 200,000 miles.

Only buy a Toyota genuine fuel filter!!! I don't know why but I was told buy a Lexus Mechanic that had been working on Toyota/Lexus cars for many years not to skimp on this.

I bought one for my 2.7 and they are just a few bucks more than pep boys.

 

Um...I think you guys are confusing fuel filters with oil filters.

drinking a 6 pack before hand isn't a bad idea either, helps take the edge off. like other members have already said, take off the front drivers side wheel, remove fuel cap. put on your slinky fingers, be patient and try not to say to many wordie dirties. I performed this no less than 6 months ago, if I can do it anyone can
