I seriously think I am the type who rates a vehicle based on memories made in that vehicle, rather than how good of a vehicle it actually was...

In the case of the 1990 Mazda B2600i LE-5 4x4, it was reliable and of a good-looking body style in addition to being indirectly responsible for numerous happy childhood memories.

In the case of the 1993 Chevy S-10 Blazer 4x4, it was also good-looking and ultimately reliable, but definitely had more problems in the three years we had it than the Mazda did...

Plus, the Mazda was eight years old and had over 90K miles when my dad bought it. The Blazer was brand new and started having problems within the first week my dad owned it!

And few things are quite as spectacular, at the age of six, as being buckled into your booster seat in the shotgun seat of your dad's Blazer while he does donuts in a Home Depot parking lot after a massive snowstorm!

I remember being little and my uncle letting me steer his brand new orange 73 VW in the parking lot in the snow to do doughnuts, that was fun!

Brooke was an intelligent girl, even by 7-year old standards...

She one of those tomboyishly beautiful girl-next-door types; I'm 99% sure she stayed on a good path and didn't turn to drugs or crime!

Part of my problem is that I never lived anywhere long enough to forge relationships with girls. If I'd lived in a place for more than decade between 1996 and 2007, my romantic life would have been a lot better back then.

We had a massive ice storm come thru around 2008-2009 which knocked the power out for 7 days, it was freakin horrible as it took me 3 days to chisel the door open on my truck. I bought a generator after that happened as I was a popsicle during all that.

The power goes out briefly at about 4:27-4:28 in the video, and my truck also makes an appearance...

This was after hammering for a day or two, very scary hitting at your truck with objects trying not to damage anything.

I've had my windows frozen shut before, and I've to really pry my door open before, but I've never been locked out of my truck for two days by mother nature!

I actually ended up giving up on the drivers side and going after the passenger door because there was a little less ice. Even after driving for a day or two and going to a hotel I still had to climb over the console and use the passenger door.

I am very paranoid about ice storms after that, I kept doing everything in my power to prevent a repeat of that. Now I can put my truck in the garage so I don't have to worry as much.
