Is the TRD Performance Exhaust Louder?

I'm looking at a 2020 Sport that comes with the TRD performance exhaust. Unfortunately, my dealer doesn't have it so it would have to be brought in and I can't drive it first to see how loud it is. I'm driving a 2019 OR presently and I think it's pretty loud already. I drove another 2020 on the lot and it wasn't that bad (Toyota put a thicker glass on the 2020's so it's a little quieter).

Question is: will the TRD performance exhaust be louder than stock or just a different tone?

    Thanks!

    Yes and yes.

That's the short answer, but the long answer is, yes your truck will get louder and yes it will have a different tone.

I have a ‘17 with the TRD exhaust. It’s a little louder and a little deeper. Not a significant difference, and far from obnoxious.

They probably do. Do they come with that exhaust?

Yes ...if it’s the TRD Pro Cat-Back exhaust you’re referring to. I have it on my OR and really like it. It’s just a tad deeper rumble for normal driving.

It's louder and quite a few people don't like it. You'll actually find people on here that try to revert to stock.

Make sure to drive one or listen to youtube clips.

V6 trucks sound awful, its just a fact.

I find the TRD exhaust doesn't have as much drone under load as the stock exhaust..

Source: I compared being in my friend's truck and in mine. he says the same thing

Whats wrong with the 2019? Could be costly for you to trade so soon

I installed the TRD exhaust on my '18 TRD Sport and am very pleased with it. Like others have stated, it's not that much louder, but does have a deep throaty tone and gives the feel of slightly more power even though it doesn't add any measurable HP. And it looks FAR better than the stock pipe behind the wheel IMO.

It is going to be costly unfortunately. The 2019 is an access cab and I really need the double. Plus, I got a pretty stripped down model and really missed some of the creature comforts.

TRD exhaust is like the TRD Cold Air intake,
Both don’t do a whole lot. But they look “nice”... for some people. For others it’s a brand thing.

If the truck comes with these options, then yea I’d have them.

Personally I think If you’re going to spend all that $ for an exhaust. Get something that will make the truck, sound good. Everyone has different preferences on what they deem as
    “sounding good”.

I have a FlowMaster that’s dumped in the middle of my truck with 3 inch piping. Love it.

( not sure if 3 inch piping lowers low end torque or not, couldn’t feel a difference personally ).

but at the end of the day, whatever makes you happy. Go with. YouTube is your friend, do a little research and then decide.

I have the TRD exhaust and am very happy with it. It will make some noise when you are on the gas or working the motor, otherwise pretty quiet.

I just installed the TRD performance exhaust with the black tip yesterday. Not as obnoxious as an MBRP or other loud exhausts. Seems to be just about perfect. Very easy to install except the hangar by the muffler was a pain.

In 2027 when all Tacos are electric there will an option in the premium sound system for Legacy exhaust noise. You'll be able to change mufflers on the fly. You'll also be able to crank up the volume to impress the chicks.

I installed my TRDPro exhaust on my brand new '17 after 550miles. Nice burble at idle, louder under load at low rpms, nice tone at higher rpms under full throttle. No Drone!

You described the TRD Pro exhaust very well. To me it's not about just being LOUD................ I heard a Tundra the other day that I don't know what system it had but it was LOUD.
Problem is that it sounded like a old Tractor, not very pleasing at all.
