Are not the 2017's with third brake light leaking problems?

Nope 2017's are now sub 27k now.

3rd gen depreciation is going to be awful. They're making a shit load of these things and money is cheap to borrow

Well as someone who has traded "a few" 3rd gens in I can tell you resale is still strong, just look at FB marketplace, cars.com etc. Resale is contingent on demand, supply and of course the price new, great thing is Toyota doesnt inflate or offer massive discounts off MSRP which keeps the brand value strong. Some real numbers for you on my trade in's.

    2016 SR5 DCLB 4WD, paid $34k new, trade in $32k with 12k miles in 2017
2017 TRD OR DCSB 4WD, paid $35k new, trade in $32k with 15k miles in late 2017
    2017 TRD OR DCSB 4WD Tech/Prem w/JBL, paid $36k new, trade in $32.5k late 2018 with 16k miles
    2019 TRD OR DCSB 4WD Tech/Prem, paid $36.5k new, trade in $35k, early 2019 with 8k miles
    2019 TRD Sport DCSB 4WD Tech/Prem, paid $36.5k new, trade in $35k with 3k miles May 2019
2019 TRD OR DCSB 4WD, paid $33.2k new, trade in $33k with 6k miles late 2019

Why do you trade so much?

It's kind like slaying a bunch of hood rats and expecting something different.

Without really seeing the total numbers on these deals it's hard to say if you've made out as good as you think you did.

Those are the numbers, I'm Tier 1+ with TFS, never had a rate above 2.9% (regions promotional rates varied while AD).
Everytime I traded the states offered tax credit, so taxes were sometimes zero to a few hundred dollars.
Highest I ever paid for a doc fee was in Phoenix at $499. Never bought any add ons like warranty, tint, guard, etc. Registration fees were $15-80 depending on my state as I was AD.

Not my first rodeo dude, I traded, bought and sold cars all through high school and on. Were they good deals, sure, but I still lost money constantly trading so not the mostly fiscally smart, but I dont have a wife, kids, mortgage, have plenty in savings and a good chunk in retirement, trucks and bikes are my thing. Not sure what you are trying to imply here but you are you...

Why keep trading for the same truck? It's not like you're really progressing up a ladder like say:

    Base 911, 911 4S, 911 Turbo

To each there own, but life's too short to buy the same truck over and over.

Could I have owned a used Raptor by now, or F150 FX4, Ram rebel, Tundra, sure. Ive entertained the idea, even had a brief stint with a Silverado, but Tacoma just fits me. And I get bored easy, like to switch it up, color, packages, trim levels, mods, etc. Like you said to each their own, but I am getting a bit bored with them and at some point will probably need something bigger, excited to see the updated Tundra and who knows with the 4th gen Tacoma.

On the plus side, you never have to think about should you buy the extended warranty. Thanks for sharing your trade in data. Did you trade in each time at the same dealer or different ones?

No prob, right lol, so three of them were the same dealer in AZ and a close friend of mine who happened to also be the fleet sales manager, so it was never a rough process. The first one I listed was at a dealer in PA I ended up having to leave a bad review about at first (worst experience I've ever had) who came up on trade 2 months later if I agreed to take down the review and buy that day (end of month, etc.). The last one was here in IL and also was rough getting just had to walk out and do some back and forth for a few weeks.

    A few.
Do those trade in values have the discount from the new vehicle added on like dealers like to do when they bring out there worksheets?

Huh? I have the price I negotitaed of the new vehicle listed on the same line, so no and a few posts later I explained financing, TTL if you're trying to imply I got hosed somewhere else, which I did not. I know the game and as I mentioned a good deal of those were through a friend in fleet sales. High volume dealers care more about pushing units than trying to squeeze every dime out of each deal.
