Pay down card, then purchase parts with said card. Bank sees payments and usage, credit goes up!

Get rid of that debt, the truck parts will still be there when the debt is gone. No better feeling then knowing you owe nothing.

I'll be happy if I owe less than $2K after I file.

Manage our taxes all year long so we end up making a small payment at the end of the year instead of paying excess taxes and letting the government use it. Use the money to buy parts throughout the year putting them on my credit card and paying the balance off each month to avoid interest. Keeps me happy and my credit score up. Win. Win.

If you get back a large sum then you need to make some adjustments. Why let the government hold your money interest free all year just to give it back to you later. If I have to pay then I know I did something right. I get to use my money when I want to.

I actually learned that in a financial management class when I was in the military. The government was the ones who taught me.

I'm trying to convince my wife that we can file our own with "software" She's convinced it's to complicated. Anyone doing their own that can recommend a straight forward program. I'd rather save the $300 that the tax preparers charge.

My wife is a CPA - she uses TurboTax for our taxes. According to her it is not complicated.

Turbotax and all that stuff is crap. I was and currently am a "regular" w2 and I didn't have any major deductions so I used turbotax for those times, finally I went back to my tax guy I used when I was 1099 and he was able to lower my tax liability way more than turbotax could and he's totally legit so I'll gladly spend a 100 more every year going to him
