    OVT,

Any plans of making installation videos for both the base and big boy kits? For those of us debating self-installation this could be tremendously helpful (not to mention good marketing when posted on Youtube and TW). These can be very helpful, especially to highlight critical installation points and give some of us backyard amateur mechanics some idea of how much work and time involved (especially with the fuel pump and injectors).

Although I will have a professional install when necessary (like gears), I do enjoy doing lots of work myself since you learn so much more about your truck.

Thanks again for all of your hard work and so looking forward to boosting this anemic V6!

No disrespect to MESO but I believe his technical skills are with electronics and less so mechanical. However, if any TW member is down for making installation videos then much appreciated! It would be nice to have some installation videos available from OVT when the TT kit hits the market.

Whenever released, I’ll take some pics if I can figure it out on my own :). I’m not a video editing guy and have never done it.

I will be doing a self install. I might be able to manage a video or at least some good pictures.

I had planned for video + written.
However, I've... "significantly" modified the engine bay of my truck, so I can't use my own for the instructions.
Mainly getting rid of some stock clips / plastics and other crap. They aren't necessary to remove in all cases, I just did anyway during the first days of building the turbo setup

If interested I’ll drop my truck off to you for install video purposes :). You can even keep it couple weeks for testing and whatnot :bananadance::bananadance::bananadance:

With a modern Toyota, gearing is indirectly related to electronics.

with steeper gears your less on the throttle, there is less load, the ecu in return gives you more timing and stays in closed loop longer.

mall of which is better for fuel economy and low end torque.

Turbos always work better and make boost easier with taller gears, not dragstrip gearing.

I honestly think the stock gear ratios will make better boost and be more user friendly than a 4.88+ geared truck.

When I had my boosted Buick Grand Nationals... the stock gearing was 3.42... and I was looking at dropping to a 3.23.
Guys that tried a 3.73 gear always went back to the 3.42's.

I guess it depends what you are looking for. Sure straight up speed, 1/4 mile times, I'm with you. Useable torque in 6 six gears, trails 1-2 high and low, give me gears. Those turbos should spin right up and use the energy of each 3.

If you break it down gear by gear, the only thing tall about the OE AT trans setup is the 5th and 6th gears which are severely overdriven. I have a feeling the turbos are going to really shine here with just a little bit of boost.

couple that with what is hopefully more control over the shift points in 2.0 Final, and I doubt we’ll be having this conversation in regards to the TT setup and needing gear swaps. Now natural aspirated, I whole heartedly agree this truck could easily use 4.88s on stock to 33” tires in order to mitigate what is essentially a useless 6th gear. At least for those of us that live in hilly or mountainous areas.

Even with 5.29s the truck needs more torque. I don’t want to use 4th gear up hills.

5.29 at 75mph is what RPM?
With these turbos I think you'll really want to stay at or under 2000 rpm in 6th.

If you're cruising at like 2500rpm in 6th a little boost may go too far, and rather than maintain speed you'll start accelerating.
We will know more with further testing.

Honestly, that doesn't sound like a bad thing. Not having driven this with your turbos I obviously have no ideal, but I would be surprised if it would accelerate in 6th with the tiniest bit of throttle. I am used to feathering the throttle and as long as the slightest throttle input doesn't generate enough boost to cause the truck to pull away on flat ground in 6th I would be super happy.
