After scanning thru tons of threads on the topic I thought I’d just ask my specific question.

I’m considering ordering a 2020 Sport. If I do, I know I want to run the 4-Runner 17” TRD Pro wheels. My plan is to bundle these with the truck order, mount my own tires, and sell the Sport wheels and tires that come on the truck. I’ve already discussed this with one dealer who didn’t think this would be a problem. I’m thinking about 265/70R17 tires which is the stock 4-Runner size. The OD is about an inch larger then the stock 17” Sport tires. I’d buy a little more aggressive tire then the street tires that come on the Sport, probably comparable with the tires that come on the 4-Runner Off-Road.

My question is; can I be sure this combination will fit on the Sport? Will mud flaps rub? Is the offset the same on both wheels?

    Thanks!

I have on OR and this exact setup rubbed my front flaps. Others rub as well, and some don't. The front plastic splitter rubs on some sport owners as well.

    I have wildpeaks on mine.

So maybe I should stick with the stock 265/65R17s eh?

Not really IMO. It's 3 screws and off come the flaps. Some rub, some don't really. Only way to know for sure is to go for it.

If you rub, but want to keep your flaps, you can trim them, or go aftermarket. I suspect most like myself simply remove them.

I don't have a real good pic showing with and without flaps, but I think it looks better without. My truck is lifted 2" and it still rubs so trimming, removing, or aftermarket are still your only options IF you rub at all.

These pics are both stock height obviously I should say.

Yeah you'll more than likely rub a little at certain angles but it won't be much. You can order truck without mudflaps which will probably cure the rubbing for the most part, like @Lt. Dangle said, some trucks rub some don't :notsure:

You will be fine I got that exact set up on my sport very minor run on the ridge in the centre of my mud flap. When I say minor I mean minor enough it just takes the dirt off. I got 265 70 17 STT Max

And I’m all stock on suspension

    Thanks for the input guys.
Leveling the front end should help the rubbing issue eh?

I'm lifted 2" in the front and still rubbed, so I will say makes no diff, lifted or not.

    Oh ya. DUH!
    You already stated that. Sorry.

I wonder why some 265/70R17s rub and some don’t? I guess it’s the tread pattern huh?

Is the offset the same between the Sport 17” wheels and the 4-Runner 17” wheels?

    Man, that looks good.

Does that mean 3” front and 2” rear?
    Which lift is that?

What did that do to your gas mileage?

No it’s not, the stock sport is like a plus 20 or something and the 4 runner rim is plus 4 it sticks out further around 1”

    How do the widths compare?

Does anyone know of a reliable source for looking up stock Toyota wheel specs?
    Such as widths & offsets?

Back when Al Gore first invented the internet this kind of official data was easy to look up. NOW-A-DAYS all that info is replaced by the people paying the search engines to put their sites above everything else!

Do I sound like a bitter old man??? LOL

Fact of the matter is that you can take 2 Tacoma's of the same model and put the same wheels and tires on them and one might rub while the other doesn't.

I would jump up to the 265/70/17’s. I have Falken Wildpeaks on my Sport and they were running the mud flaps. I heated them up with a heat gun till they were glossy then took a large piece of icy snow and pushed the spot that was rubbing into the fender well and held it for a few minutes. Would never know it was messed with and zero rub now.

I am on stock sport suspension.
