Front oil seal, timing cover, or upper oil pan gasket. You will need to remove the harmonic balancer and idler pulley to get a better view. Might also need to clean it up to pinpoint the location. You can first try adding a dye to the motor oil to try and spot the leak source.

    Too few to list.
Yep, degrease that motor first so you can see where it's leaking from. Welcome to the site.

I have been looking over multiple links and forums of what people are saying and yet no one has really confirmed the process of dropping the upper oil pan. One youtube video showed that you only need to remove the steering linkage to access and remove upper oil pan.
Can anyone confirm that i do not need to drop the axle/ dif to remove and reseal the upper oil pan

Tcomaboy, lots of rust, dealership sprayed the frame but didnt do much good, need to call to see if they will replace it finally

Make sure you find out when your date of 1st use was. You only get 12 years from that date, so when the 2020 Tacos hit the lot, you're on the 11th hour. You don't want to be 1 day late, like the last guy.

Before you go off replacing the front crank seal you might double check your oil level dipstick. I had the same issue and was about the replace that crank seal, bought tools, bought seal....then before doing the job I decided to check my oil level and it was at the high mark on the level. I set it to right below the middle.....and it never leaked again, it's been 3-4 yrs now.

the only reason i notice it was because i had a bunch of black crap on the underside of the driver side hood that wasn't there prior to changing the spark plugs a few weeks ago.
changed the oil last weekend and took the skid plate off to get a better look and that is what i found.

It's likely a timing cover, and the crank shaft seal. A good photo will help.

Check behind your power steering pump and the timing cover is likely leak there as well.

Pretty certain it's not this mess. Mine is won't hardly noticable unless you look hard or remove the skid plate.
While I am sure I could do it, I do not have the time for a major involved project. I will take it down the street and powerwash the area and see how much is coming out. After that I will put 5 qts of oil instead of 5.5. maybe the fix maybe not. Have to get tires next year and the transmission fluid done. Going to make a list and head to Portland for a few days and get it all done at once. The tax savings alone will pay for the trip. Unless Bellevue toyota has some kind of deal that comes up.

    Thanks for the reply.
