So I’ve been considering trading in my 2018 Tacoma for a TRD Pro for a few personal reasons, I’ve been researching and test driving and weighing my options since I’ll likely lose a good chunk of change trading in so soon. But I digress...

how is it possible the new tundra TRD Pro is only $1990 more than the Tacoma? I built this on the Toyota website and am kind of confused... why would you buy a Tacoma if you can get v8 power with a 6.5ft bed for the same price? The only reason I could see it might be a manual transmission option if you are a control freak.

Size reasons. Tundra is huge for daily driving

Some people don't want the full size truck but I am with you. They are to closely priced. In a way it is extremely frustrating.

The Tacoma trd pro is over priced, but they sell so can you blame Toyota? I have a 2020 tundra, 2nd gen Tacoma and had a 2016 4runner. If the size isn't an issue the tundra does everything but technical off road better

I’d have a Tundra TRD Pro if it fit in my garage.

I can agree I don’t want a full size but it sure is tempting considering you get Toyota reliability, a strong v8, a 6.5 ft bed, double cab and all the pro stuff for the same price as a v6 with a 5ft bed

And you might even get a discount on the Tundra if for some reason the Tundra Pro doesn't sell like Tacoma Pro

Your not comparing crew to crew. Crew Cab Tundra Pro starts at $52,930.

Wouldn’t matter if the Tacoma was $1990 more than the Tundra. I’m sure the sales figures wouldn’t change a whole lot.

I like the smaller size of the Tacoma. Tundras make great power, but they are whales compared to the Tacoma.

Some people including myself don't want a full-size pickup. Why is that hard to understand?

Why would a little extra metal be $$$$ more? Seriously I bet Toyota make more on the Tundra Pro than they do on the Tacoma Pro purely because the Tundra is archaic and paid for its design years ago. Size of Tacoma / Tundra really doesn’t cost that much more in raw materials / parts, It’s the marketing / what they can actually ask is the main difference. Buy either for the of size vehicle you want.

If they still made a single cab 4WD 5.7 Tundra with a short box I would have bought that in 2018. I would have topped it off with a TRD Supercharger

I just want that rear window. Wouldn't trade the locker for it though.

That rear window looks like a quick way to end up with a dirty interior given the eddy wind in the bed
