    Wanna carpool? :D

Family is a bit further up but ballpark, southeastern New England, 15 hours + stops. You feel like driving makes most sense or do you ever fly?

I'm not sure how the traffic is in NE, but here in Charleston we have a saying .. "Charleston is about 1 hr from Charleston" So be prepared for traffic. When I moved here, the statistic was 30 families per day moved to this area which is putting tremendous strain on the poorly maintained roads. Have a nice suspension and be prepared for :bikewhoops:.

Lots of 2 lane roads and divided highways. Lots of school bus stops on those divided highways :facepalm:so be prepared for that as well. I don't want to discourage you from coming out here.

Distance to parks n stuff from North Charleston:
Broken Nut Offroad Park - 2:30 ~153 miles
    Gulches - 2:47 ~184 miles
Battery park - 1:37 ~81 miles (more of a dirt bike/atv/utv playground than for 4x4)
Oconee State Park - 4:15 ~259 miles (kicking off point of Georgia Traverse)

    Fishing/camping n stuff:
    The beaches, (duh)
Hamilton Branch State park - 2:15 ~168 miles

There's a bunch of lakes too, to many to list. Plenty of old war stuff if you're into that. River dogs local baseball team, Sting rays local hockey team. Plenty of old plantations to tour. There's basically stuff for everybody to do fairly close if your willing to venture in traffic. Lots of indoor play places for the kidlets if you have any; bounce houses, trampoline parks, funzones ... This area is very foody too .. cant just get a burger, they have to put Asiago cheese on brioche buns with lightly toasted capers and chives, so if you're into fancy food. Yeah.

    Thank you!

Yeah, during commute to get across the 2 mile city of Providence would be an hour. I'm used to strong commute traffic. I have a tacoma, off road :) might just convince the wife she needs a 4R if we move there!

Thanks for the rundown of the parks. I'll have to check them out, and I both love and hate fancy food waves. Yes it's nice from time to time, but sometimes you just want a cheeseburger with tomatoes and a plain bun and nothing special :|

Traffic in the Charleston area sucks. It really sucks when it's raining. But it no where
compares to traffic in the North East. Any place from DC on up to Connecticut sucks
    major ass.

Speaking of traffic SoCal traffic sucks too. Calabasas to Thousand Oaks is about 16 minutes
on Sundays. If the weather was too foggy to fly the helicopter pilot should have never pulled
the chocks. 5 minutes in a helicopter versus 16 minutes in a car? I'll take my Tacoma anytime
    over a helicopter.

There's about 12 or so offroad parks here in SC, though most of them are more geared towards bikes and quads. Not many that cater towards 4x4's, you'll have to venture towards the northern end of the state to get into that. Camping though, there's some nice places to camp, you'll just have to ask the locals where they like to go. I'm trying to get the wife away from the glamp sites and do my version of camping. Probably late March or early April, Ill take her out to somewhere on the GA Traverse and camp out there, in the woods, like real people. Most, if not all, of the state parks here will have improved camp sites with pads and bathrooms and rv's and other campers.
