Someone on another site posted this reminder



January 27th 1978 I graduated boot camp in Great Lakes Il. Was an adventure marching from place to place that week, do recall that. In dress uniform and towels wrapped around our faces to help preheat the air. Had a lot of snow parties, which meant shoveling snow. That is when I learned the Navy's idea of a party was a lot different than mine. At the graduation ceremony the building was almost empty we had no idea what was going on in the rest of the world. My parents and 3 sisters were supposed to be there but no sign of them. Took more than a week to connect up with them on the phone they had spent 4-5 days in the back of a tractor trailer stranded on the Interstate in Ohio. They made the front page of the newspaper back home.
