Looking for an inexpensive loading ramp for a bicycle

If you do go ramp, I would advise a step stool as well. That way, as the bike rolls up the ramp, you have something to step on to get up into the bed. Cause your hands will be on the bike.

You can buy just one. Folds in half and has LED lights. What is there not to like?

 

This is the problem with EBikes. If you are too weak to ride a real bike, you are too weak to lift an EBike into you bed.

 

I've ridden the hell out of the Limes and Birds.

I saw the first post and was like “What kind of bike weighs 50 pounds?!”, but that would explain it. Battery weight adds up quick.

 

Might want to double check where you shop. Im not here to judge, but a 2x10 at Homo Depot may not be the same 2x10 you get at Lowes.

 

My cheap fat bike weighs in at 46lb. Steel frame and forks, big heavy 4.0in wide tires, tubes, and rims, and not much else. It does make 220mm rotors look small.

It is a cruiser that makes workouts shorter, so the weight is a benefit here. Definitely not for climbing.

No ramp needed for me, just yet.

 

A sheet of plywood that subs as the bed floor would do the trick.

 

Squat low, grab hold of the bike by the frame and hold it close to your body, stand up pushing through your heels while keeping your spine neutral. you'll develop overall body strength and in a few weeks you'll be lifting 2 E bikes and in a month, you'll be able to crawl under your Tacoma and leg press it to change a tire.

 

Less than a bag of play sand from Lowes, but with lots of places to grab.

When I can't wrestle that 33" off the ground and into a truck bed, I'm gonna consider getting right with God and ask my closest relative for a mercy killing.

 

This is the typical American attitude towards eBikes. In Europe, eBikes are widespread and a valid alternative to cars.

 

So they ride them places, not drive them places is what I am hearing? Sounds like you're doing it wrong too then!

I am there with you, but we don't know if there are other factors for the OP.

Last summer when I was riding mine, I would load it and unload it daily, even days that I wasn't using it since our garage is tight.

 

All kidding aside, my suggestion of a piece of plywood was serious. Rip a piece of 3/4" plywood down to about a foot wide and as long as your box will handle with the gate closed. Drill 2 holes at one end to accept some rope. Take the wood and hang it off the gate creating the ramp and tie the ends of the rope to the d rings on the rear corners to prevent the ramp from falling off while loading. Cheap and compact.

 

I can see that, but I have avoided red vehicles all my life. For the Taco when I was buying, I thankfully had the choice between three MTs: my BR, an MGM, and an MGM with the horrid looking Inferno accents. I really wanted the MGM, but I swear it is the same color code shared with Subaru. My wife's Forester is MGM. I actually was amazed by BR when I saw it in person. It looked nothing like the dealer pics on the website.

Yeah. I would have to check, but our much older mountain bikes (26'ers in today's talk) are probably right around 20lb.

 

I'm probably doing a little different type biking than you are though too, I'm not commuting, I'm mountain biking. And I'm just ribbing you, I dont mind eBikes, just dont want to see them on the trail.

 

Good for snow conditions. I considered one, but don't get enough of it.
