It's got a few bugs, but it's got a lot less than it did a year ago. Progress!

There are times where this would be a tempting offer. My feelings on the matter change back and forth several times just about every time I take it out of the garage. :)

Where are some good spots in NorCal?

i currently live in the Tracy/lathrop area. I usually go to the eldorado national forest because it’s the closet place I know off.

I have heard of some fire roads near here.

I went to Carnegie SVRA recently, and It was a little disappointing.

It's a beautiful machine. Does that badge say 351?

I've wanted a Bronco like that since, well, forever, it seems. What difficulties are you having with the beast?

A lot of crap and too much money spent
Frank ranies is over by patterson, but you could always goto stanislaus National Forest area. Corral hollow, baltic ridge are east in the sierras.

Also come visit the 209 thread.

i know that. Not sure if you are aware, but I the Eldorado national forest is a part of the Sierras. I could be wrong though about that though.

I’ve been seeing a lot of evidence of gang activity out there. I am re-thinking the national forests now. Really seem like dangerous places currently. I don’t have any firearms.

Eldorado and the big tree areas are close, but Tahoe and other parts are 3-4 hours away.

there has to be some places to drive around in the Bay Area/Central Valley other than the three SVRA parks?

I’ve met you a couple of time already. Im the one with the FZJ80 Land Cruiser’s, at Eagles Lake and the SAS Gold Taco, at Slick Rock last year. It’s so funny because we ran slick rock back and forth that day. On the way back after I saw you it only took us 1.5 hours go go back to the gates. We were flying.

Thanks! The badge does say 351. I'm pretty sure that it had a 289 in it originally, but I haven't done any research on it. It had the 351w in it when I bought it.

Not sure how much detail you're looking for, but currently I can't get the transfer case to shift into 4 low. Stock it had a T shift which didn't work so well, so I put in a twin stick conversion and I'm still fighting it. Sometimes just turning a knob on the dash sounds so much more fun!

Prior to doing the twin stick conversion, I had the transfer case rebuilt with a Teraflex crawler low gear kit (3.15:1), and an extreme output system, but the work was done by a crappy, fly-by-night outfit in Rocklin. The same shop that rebuilt the 4R70W transmission that I used to replace the 3 speed manual that was in it when I bought it. I have since had that transmission rebuilt by a different shop because it was overheating. Lesson learned.

I haven't had a chance to mess with it much since I discovered the problem on Saturday. I'm hoping it is just a clearance issue with the shifters or something, and not something internally in the transfer case.

I would suggest looking at the Motor Vehicle Use Map for the particular area you want to explore. A lot of trails and roads get closed in the winter, so your options are likely pretty limited.
