Getting oil changed at dealer. service writer annoyed at me because I said don't overfill my oil by adding 5.5 quarts. I said 5 quarts gets you too fill line. checking dip stick afterwards.

If you want clean, it doesn’t get much cleaner IMO for under $500 than the Sony XAV5000. Got mine for around $300

Which wiring harness did you guys go with to update your older trucks to modern HU? I've soldered up an Amazon special wiring harness and an XAV5000 for my wife's 2006 Taco following what I thought the directions stated, but it's not right. I'd just like a high-quality harness (don't even really care about steering wheel controls at this point), solder up the HU connections and be done with it. Thanks!

Dropped my truck off at the body shop over the weekend. Over thanksgiving I was minorly rear-ended in a snow storm on my way back from CO through UT. Finally getting around to getting it fixed.

On a sort of plus note, they gave me a Limited Jeep Grand Cherokee as a rental, not bad not bad!

Looking at those harnesses, it looks like you don't have JBL factory audio, right? Somehow her factory JBL audio (and wanting to retain the factory speakers and amp...for now) are making things more complicated for me.

Why do you want the oil level at the fill line immediately after an oil change?

Both Scosche and Metra make great harnesses. Harnesses are also available for popular brands of vehicle makes and popular brands of stereos that are already assembled together as a unit versus two separate harnesses that require to be connected together. Here is an example.
    20200127_093521.jpg

I'm positive the Amazon harness you already have will work just fine, what problems are you experiencing with it currently and which brand is your stereo? Maybe I can tell you what is incorrect with it.
    .

I can not stand Sony head units, I don't like how they operate, I don't like how they portray their specs unfairly (use different parameters in their specs) when compared to other brands, and they break more often than any other major brand of aftermarket stereo and it's not even close. Major brands I'm comparing Sonys to: Alpine, Kenwood, and Pioneer. The other major brands (JVC, Clarion, Blaupunkt) are just made by other brands for these brands for the most part and Sony makes most of them for them. No offense meant to you fans of Sony car stereos.

Put in a $300 android auto head unit (Sony XAV-AX5000). Steering wheel controls are the only thing not working, tried programming them through the head unit with no luck. Not sure what the issue is yet.

Also decided to paint the toyota letters on my grill with some spray paint I found at home depot last night. Still need to touch it up and put on a clear coat. Planning on doing the same to all my red hooks/accents. Ignore the crookedness in the last two pics, put it on in a rush before work this morning, still need to align

I ordered through Crutchfield and they recommended a harness and adapter to keep steering wheel controls. You can just plug in the vehicle info in there and it’ll give you exactly what you need

We’ll see how it goes, this is my first Sony stereo. It hasn’t blown my mind but not bad for the price.

I've owned several Sony in-dash units, and never had a failure. Frankly I've never had a failure of any aftermarket unit. Enjoy your purchase!

i do not want it over the full line anytime. easier for me to top off in morning after (or when cooled) oil change if needed.

i realized i said fill and not full (2nd dot).
