Finally got the right post mounts, and attached my tablet mount. Works great, although I kind of want a shorter arm.. the one on it at least 4" a 2" would be better.

Obviously you can purchase that accessory for $74.99, not including ram ball or arm. It's called the TITS mount (Tacoma Interstellar Tactical Sextant)

30 pages and I'm just finding this thread. I hate to invite myself in, but it there room for another? I've never been on a long trip, and have wheeled once. I don't want to hold the group back, but as long as it doesn't get much crazier than blue trails, and people are willing to give a spot when needed I'm game.

These are dirt logging roads, there wont be any "trails" involved per se. Though there is a possibility of some pin stripping from overgrown areas. Really the biggest issue will be the shear number of trucks. Im thinking it may have to be 2 or even more groups this year. Even the biggest camp sites up there can probably only hold 12-14 trucks in them

I'm up for logging roads. I really have just gotten the bug to wheel and explore. I have only been to NH once for work, and it was just an awesome landscape. If Maine is anything like it I would love to explore it. I'm assuming that everyone is leaving on Monday morning? I'm just trying to weigh things. I usually participate in the memorial day ceremonies with the VFW. I enjoy it, but after doing it for 10 years straight I think I can afford to miss one.

I'll probably hang out a bit Monday AM, or head to Old Orchard for a few hours. Do laundry and whatnot before heading back home. I'll have the dog so if the campsites allow the time I might go for a hike monday before we head out.

I'm also a newbie. Went from truck/jeep down to a mazda hatch. back in truck so it's been a while.

It'll probably thin out some when we get closer.
    Stuff happens people bail.
I have decided not to bring the trailer though,
Had some fast fun with it last weekend and it doesn't like taking corners fast!
Good thing I had an abundance of room to slide on:rofl:
I kinda thought that was going to happen so I figured I'd try it. Happy I did.

too top heavy/height? I've been looking into building my trailer as most available ones are too pricey, even the M100 trailers are getting upwards of $1500 for a rusted out one.. I figure a budget of $3k will get me a goo bit of steel ($1500), and the timbren 4" lift axles/6 lug hubs ($550-ish), add in another $800 or so for matching wheels/tires, and for $3k itll more than haul all of my gear. including a gas assist lift for my RTT. planning for a box type like the smittybuilt.. with a front box for recovery, and 12v battery setup, and a spare tire. just working out what guage steel for the frame, and what i would like to add to it. friend just bought a nice house in appleton, and has a shop almost ready for building this.. just have about 2k more debt to pay off then i can begin collecting parts/steel.

Actually I was wondering if it was going to try and tip when I was sliding it around but it stayed true the whole time.
That may have something to do with the actual weight of it (1400lbs at the time) and the Timbren suspension I put on it.
I know 1 thing though when I'm going straight and fast with it I still don't feel it, just glides right over the bumps.

Based on last year I'm not too worried, we got <25% of people who were interested actually responding to PMs and showing up.

But if we actually hit the checkpoint with to many trucks that's the plan.

With regards to schedulev it's very much a choose your own adventure trip, people are welcome to join or drop out as desired. The only defined point of the trip is the trains on Sunday around lunch time.

As a matter of safety I encourage traveling with at least two truck groups.

I'd appreciate it if anyone who decides to break off let's the rest of us know, so we don't worry about losing someone.

Do you have an area we will be exploring in mind. I am not familiar with the great north woods at all, but wouldn't mind googling the area.

It is a shame this is so far away, and such a long trip. I have a 4 year old son that would love the trains. He likes to camp and hike, but 4 states away and for 4 days I think is pushing it a little. I feel like saturday night he will be ready to leave. I suppose, I could make the trip and log it for another time when he gets a little older.

I'm newer to the group, but are there other trips like this, where wheeling isn't the sole plan? I enjoyed my first time wheeling and plan to do it more, but exploring the country and its sites are more family friendly at the moment.

Thanks for the link @skatefreak282 pretty interesting destination.

I would love to make a run at ESTCOURT... maybe not for that 3 days, but the week before. make a 2 day book from home through the TELOS checkpoint, and north into the NMW maybe stop and camp off St john river somewhere... then hit estcourt road all the way up, get fuel there, or accross the border, then come back down.. google maps says 8 hours from greenville to estcourt through this route, but I expect more.... possibly 2 days solid driving, and stopping for lunch/pictures. this time of year would be ideal for a trip like this.. roads should be in decent repair, and I am planning to stick to the main roads, so no low and slow..
