Not a fan of his but enjoyed watching him play. He was never proven a rapist in the court of law, you know that part innocent till proven guilty.

There were so many internet hoaxes about Steve Irwin's death that when he really did die, everyone thought it was just another hoax.

Yep, his death is no more or less painful than all the others. He's just famous. Life is short, and getting shorter with every second.
Enjoy it while you can. Take risks. Have fun. Love those you're with. No regrets.

What is crazy is Calabasas to Thousand Oaks is like a 16 minute drive on Sundays.
If the weather wasn't great for flying the pilot should have never pulled the chocks.
I'd take a 16 minute drive in my Tacoma than 5 minutes in a helicopter even if the
weather was perfect. Crazy the rich would rather fly 14 miles than jump in a car.

Very sad news. I'm a die-hard NBA guy and loved rooting hard against that guy, but that sort of passion only existed because of how much respect I had for his game. Incredible talent, drive, work ethic, and competitive spirit. He had an incredibly high basketball IQ and basketball fans have been robbed of the opportunity to hear him talk about the game for decades to come. His HoF induction will be a sight to behold.

More importantly, however, and much sadder is that there is a wife who lost a husband and daughter, and there are three little girls who lost a sister and a father. There were three other families impacted by the crash, too. It is gut-wrenching to think about what they are all going through. It's just tragic all around and the thing I can't shake with all of the headlines floating around.

Kobe was, in no way, a perfect man. Whatever happened in that hotel in Boulder, Colorado, it wasn't a positive thing. He stood accused of rape, but not convicted and I'll grant him that, as much as I condemn him being in that situation in the first place. You can be as cynical as you want about his wife's motivations for staying with him, but she did and, by all accounts, he put in a lot of effort to be a great husband. She had four daughters with him - the youngest is 7 months old at the moment - and it was fairly clear that he has also dedicated himself to be a great father as well. He's flawed, he made mistakes, and they shouldn't be forgotten, but they don't have to unilaterally define him, either. There are lots of people - good, high character people that I hold in very high regard - that liked and respected Kobe. I'll trust a bit in their perception of him.

No one has to mourn his death, but I think it is rational for one to do so. I don't think that feeling particularly impacted by Kobe's death means that you find his life to be any more precious or valuable than someone else's. All life is precious. I think most people acknowledge that, but Kobe impacted a lot of people's lives and he entertained and inspired millions. The widespread grief is expected and reasonable. That's what you do when someone who was part of your life in one way or another passes away.

As a Mavs fan, one of the first moments that replayed in my head was when Dirk hit a game winning shot in LA against the Lakers. Kobe didn't play in that game, but was on the bench trying to orchestrate the defense in a way to stop Dirk. It didn't work and Dirk hit the shot right in front of Kobe. Kobe gave him a pat on the butt, Dirk gave Kobe a pat on the chest. Game respecting game.
