Autos are faster, manuals give you better control on windy roads, but flat out getting it a straight line, autos rule. I drive a stick for the control factor. But if I was worried just pure speed, an auto would be in my truck. Also you steer an automatic, you drive a stick.

That is true. I'm just remembering my Tacoma having moments of lag in between gears when I had the gas pedal to the floor.

I guess the transmission would handle easier because its lighter truck body with the standard transmission gear plates for the normal tundra.

I guess your saying you can go through the gears if you wish just like the Tacoma's can do.

 

Or be lucky enough to get a donor Tundra with a totaled rear end. Take out the necessities and work the magic. Probably half the cost..

 

New ECU, Drivetrain (with new gears in axle), New engine (obviously), new transmission, new cooling equipment, beefier fuel system, new wiring harnesses.

If 4x4 you would have to do all of that and include Half-shafts and a new transfer case.

 

If you are lucky to get all of that out of a wrecked Tundra, I'm guessing it will be around $5-8k.
