Installed my SOS streamline bumper, winch and rock sliders yesterday. So now I have the Cali rake, but that's better than the Carolina Squat. Have to order spacers now, it really is a rabbit hole. :D
Mounting the control box on the winch after installing it in the truck without removing the bumper is fiddly and a giant PITA! Definitely should mounted that beforehand. But at least the winch works! I'm not sure how I feel about it having power all the time. I may install a cutoff switch.

You shouldn't need to go with spacers, get heaver rated springs. With steel up front and a synthetic winch, I'm running 700# springs with very minimal rake. It's basically level. Though, spacers would be the cheaper option but I'm a firm believer of doing things right. Temporary becomes permanent.

    What's wrong with adding spacers?
Also, which springs are you using? I just looked on Headstrong's site and don't see 700# springs. What kind of on road ride with that produce?
I'm currently running 884s with 5100s all around.

Side note: When I bought the lift, it was advertised as a 2.25" front lift for an access cab. I only got a 1.75" lift. I believe they've updated those numbers since. So before the bumper and after the lift I was at 22" in the front, 24" in the back (measuring hub to fender). I'm now at 21" front driver's, 21.5" front passenger's. So I'll at least need to add the 1/4" spacer that came with the kit but I never installed.

That was the best part about Austin. We are used to New England, and you just constantly hear how bad the traffic is in ATX. Talked to someone who moved from Boston, he laughed and said it's about 10 percent of what Boston was, everyone comes from the middle of BFE and moves to a city and thinks the traffic is horrendous. :D

So, sounds like Charleston is similar. Horrible for anywhere other than New England.

Not big on OHV parks, I'm more of an MTB and hiking kind of guy, at least with the MTB my dog can run with me in the woods. We'll definitely be checking out the city, I'm planning to drive down (Maybe the tacoma, maybe wife's hybrid camry....we'll see....), so I might take some more days to check out the outskirts and other stuff before I drive back up.

    And corticosteroids...

You and I are having a similar problem. Winch and bumper are dragging my nose down to the point I need either spacers, adjusting the Bilsteins, or heavier springs. Maybe even a combination of all three.

700lb springs are only for 2.5” shocks.

you need either Eibach pro truck springs (742lbs) or OME 886’s (660-ish lbs)

I have some 886’s brand new if interested. $140.

886's are what I have, and they aren't quite enough.

Edit: Sorry, not trying to kill a potential sale.

I purchased one for that purpose after reading some horror stories about thieves cutting the wires and stealing winches leaving the exposed wires.

Some resulting in vehicles fires resulting in total losses. 2 caught nearby garages on fire and one house destroyed.

Sadly, I wish I knew which box it's been sitting in for the last 6 years or so.

I believe that it comes from back in the early days of lifting vehicles when they used the old chinese pot metal or old hockey pucks for back woods spacers/body lifts. I'm sure there's nothing wrong with the higher quality billet aluminum spacers that are produced nowadays, I was just feeding into the misconception. Spacers should be fine. As far as my springs, it's a stiff ride unless I'm loaded down in the bed, which is rare. :anonymous: But off road, it's smooth and rebounds nicely. Feels real nice. I bought the OME 886 with nitrocharger 90001(?) with heavy duty springs in the rear. I'd have to double check to be certain as this was well over 6 years ago, my memory is a bit fuzzy. I believe the 886's are rated at 670#, I'd have to double check on OME's website. http://www.sleeoffroad.com/installation/ome_spring_specs.pdf Here you can see the spring rates for OME springs. In this case the 2886 is the x886 is about 660# spring rate, your 884's are a softer spring at 590#. If you're looking to keep the softer spring rate, you might want to look at the 887 spring as they are very similar to your 884 as they will give you another 10mm in height (~0.5in close enough)

    886s don't work with my 5100s.

As far as the 887s, I need an additional 1" in height right now.

I'm pretty sure 886's will work with 5100s as long as they are not pre-loaded (set at 0").
